It makes sense that you avoid what feels overwhelming. But over time it can make you feel like your world has shrunk and it is never ending.

In the moment you feel a sense of relief, but it quietly reinforces the very fear or worry you’re trying to escape. Breaking the cycle starts with small, safe steps toward what feels hard.

Thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations are all connected. They are like different parts of the same conversation. When one shifts, the others follow.

Therapy helps you notice those links, so you can respond with more awareness instead of just reacting. Small shifts in understanding can create big changes in how you feel, both mentally and physically.

Disagreements are normal in life, however, the way we fight determines how the relationship moves forward - will it break or grow in strength.

Fair-fighting means:
Not attacking the person.
Not bringing up old wounds.
Not trying to "win".

Fair-fighting is a tool that helps you learn better ways to communicate with each other and getting to understand each other better. Healthy conflict focus on the issue and not the other person.

Ever notice how quickly conversations turn into blame?
“I” statements are a simple communication tool used in therapy to help people express feelings without attacking the other person. Instead of accusing, you focus on your own experience.

"I" statements are a small shift in communication that creates a big change.

Instead of blaming, you express.
Instead of being accusing, you clarify.
Instead of escalation, you open up to understanding.

Healthy communication sounds like:
"I feel...when...because....I need....."
It is about being clear without being attacking and this small language shift can help lower defensiveness and increase emotional safety.

Self-esteem is shaped by early attachment, feedback from caregivers, peer experiences, cultural messaging and repeated success or failure. Understanding it's origins can help reduce shame and help create space for change.

Therapy can support self-esteem by increasing self-awareness, challenging distorted beliefs, processing past experiences, busy doing boundaries and practicing self-compassion.

Journalling isn’t about writing perfectly or finding the “right” words.
It’s about giving your thoughts a place to land.
When things feel tangled in your head, putting them on paper can create a little space to breathe, reflect, and understand yourself more clearly.
There’s no rules to journalling just honesty, curiosity and space to check-in with yourself.

⚠️This carousel discusses phobias, which may be distressing. Please look after yourself⚠️

Phobias are anxiety-based conditions where the fear response is triggered quickly and intensely.
Phobias go beyond everyday fear.
They’re strong emotional responses and can feel overwhelming and can quietly shape your daily life.

Did you know?
Phobias can trigger anxiety symptoms like a racing heart, shortness of breath, or avoidance.

Cyberbullying isn’t limited to teens or social media.
Adults can experience it too - at work, in relationships, and online communities.
Cyberbullying activates the same stress response as in-person bullying as our nervous systems don't know the difference between online and offline harm.

Support helps rebuild feelings of safety, self-worth and confidence. While also helping you process the emotional pain of experiencing cyberbullying.

Hi everyone, Kim here!

I’m so excited to share some news about a new chapter in my practice. As many of you know, I’m a qualified therapist (MBACP), but I’ve headed back to the books (and the play room!) to complete my Children and Young People's Training.

Growing up can be tough, and I’m passionate about giving children and young people a safe, creative space where they feel truly heard and understood.

Because I’m currently completing this specialist qualification, I’m able to offer Saturday sessions at a reduced rate of £20. It’s a really lovely opportunity for me to support more families while I hone these specific skills. If you have a child or young person who might benefit from a little extra support, I’d love to help.

✨ Qualified BACP therapist
✨ Dedicated Saturday slots
✨ £20 rate whilst training

Initial consultations will ALWAYS be free and this applies to Children and Young People too.

⭐New Team Member⭐

FOFC is delighted to add Kenzie to our team!

Kenzie is our new (AND FIRST!) student counsellor, joining the team at the end of last year and completing her first day with us today.

"Hey!

My name is Kenzie, and I’m the student counsellor working with Fight or Flight Club, and I’m currently studying with Fife College.

I could honestly write a novel about how passionate I am within my role, but feel this would take far too long to read.

What I will say is, I believe everyone is different and unique in their own ways, and this is reflected in the work we would do together, by working collaboratively we can make a plan to best support you using different methods and this can always be reviewed and changed whenever necessary.

Despite our uniqueness, we all share one thing in common… we are human, and that is at the forefront of all our work together. I understand life can be a struggle and hard to balance, and I’m here to listen and to walk these paths with you, with respect, honesty and acceptance to help you find your path, without fear of a power imbalance, because that’s how I believe therapy should be."

Welcome to the team 💚🩷
