Is IBS making your life miserable?

Bloated, gassy, crampy, and uncomfortable? Struggling with constipation one moment and running to the loo the next?

You’re not alone—this sounds like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), a common condition affecting up to a third of people at some point in their lives, according to Guts UK. It’s one of the top reasons people visit their doctor.

But here’s the frustrating part: the NHS says there’s not much that can be done. IBS is often labeled as a lifelong issue with no clear cause and no real cure—just symptom management with over-the-counter meds. Not exactly reassuring, right?

The good news? There are answers. As a nutrition professional specialising in digestive health, I can help you explore natural solutions beyond just temporary fixes. Together, we can work to uncover the root cause of your symptoms and create a plan to help you feel better—for good.

Ready to take control of your gut health? Book a free 30-minute mini consultation today and let’s find a solution that works for you!

Did you know there’s a strong link between gut health and mental well-being? The digestive system, often called the "second brain," is directly connected to the brain through a network of nerves known as the Enteric Nervous System (ENS).

Ever noticed how feelings of anxiety, stress, or depression can affect your stomach? Symptoms like bloating, burping, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, or heartburn can all be triggered by emotional distress.

Likewise, when your stomach is upset—whether due to illness or something you’ve eaten—it’s common to experience low mood, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, or a lack of motivation.

This gut-brain connection works both ways, meaning each influences the other. If you have chronic digestive conditions like IBS, Crohn’s disease, or ulcerative colitis, you’re at a higher risk of experiencing mental health challenges. Whether mild or severe, these issues can significantly impact your quality of life.

The good news? By prioritizing your gut health through proper nutrition and dietary choices, you can take back control of your emotional and mental well-being. Choosing the right foods and implementing gut-friendly habits can lead to noticeable improvements in mood and overall mental clarity.

If this resonates with you and you’re ready to reclaim your health, reach out today. You don’t have to suffer any longer—it’s not just in your head! 👍🏻

Are you just tired or is it fatigue?

Tiredness is the feeling of being tired which is usually caused by a busy day, lack of sleep or exercise, for example. Tiredness is improved with sleep or rest.

Fatigue is more severe prolonged tiredness that has an impact on daily life. It may be the result of one or more factors and is not always resolved with rest.

A balanced diet can address many underlying health issues, but it's important to remember that there is no one nutrient that's responsible for all ill health, and there is no one nutrient that will make us healthy. It really is about our overall dietary pattern.

A nutrition professional can provide expert advice and support to help you make positive changes to your diet and lifestyle (such as sleep hygiene and exercise) in order to combat tiredness, reduce fatigue and boost energy levels. Whilst having a general understanding is helpful, a nutrition professional can help you identify what is right for you.

To learn more about how you can manage your energy levels with the support of nutrition, get in touch now and we can explore a solution together.

We often adjust our diet to lose weight or build muscle, but have you ever considered using nutrition to feel your absolute best?

The foods you eat, the nutrients you consume, and your lifestyle choices all influence how your body functions—and ultimately, how you feel. That’s why many people turn to Nutritional Therapy for a variety of reasons.

Some may struggle with digestive issues, fatigue, depression, anxiety, headaches, migraines, hormone imbalances, or joint and muscle pain. Many of my clients have tried medication, diets, or other approaches without success and are now looking for a different path.

Carrie can help you improve your overall well-being, address specific health concerns, or take a proactive approach to your health.

Your needs are unique. Factors like age, physical health, lifestyle, genetics, and environment all play a role, which is why Nutritional Therapy is never a “one-size-fits-all” solution. Carrie will take the time to understand you so her recommendations are tailored to your individual needs.

Most importantly, her guidance is practical, achievable, and designed to fit your pace. This may include meal plans, shopping lists, targeted nutritional supplements, or lifestyle adjustments. She'll provide you with the tools to make meaningful and lasting changes.

Book a free 30 minute initial call to discuss your symptoms, and find out how Carrie can support you on your journey to better health.

Are You Addicted to Sugar?

Excess sugar intake and frequent blood sugar spikes can wreak havoc on your health, leading to fatigue, cravings, and long-term complications. If you often feel like you're on an energy roller coaster, it might be time to assess your sugar intake.

Signs Your Blood Sugar May Be Out of Control:
👉🏻 Frequent fatigue
👉🏻 Headaches / migraines
👉🏻 Waking up during the night / insomnia
👉🏻 Energy crashes throughout the day
👉🏻 Brain fog
👉🏻 Intense food cravings, sometimes followed by bingeing
👉🏻 Gout
👉🏻 PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome)
👉🏻 Fatty liver disease

Sugar cravings don’t have to control you. By making small, sustainable changes to your diet, you can balance your blood sugar, reduce cravings, improve your energy levels, support weight loss, and lower your risk of chronic diseases.

Take back control of your health—ditch the sugar highs and lows and fuel your body in a way that leaves you feeling vibrant and energised!

You've likely attempted to cut out sugar multiple times, but it has a way of pulling you back in, making it tough to quit entirely. I'm on hand to help you cut the cravings for good.

Could your symptoms be the result of a Food Intolerance or a Food Allergy?

Food allergies and food intolerances are often misunderstood, but they differ in their immune responses, symptoms, and severity. A food allergy is an immune system reaction primarily involving an IgE (immunoglobulin E) response, where the body mistakenly identifies a specific food as harmful. This can trigger immediate and potentially life-threatening reactions, such as hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis. Even a trace amount of the allergen—such as peanuts, shellfish, or dairy—can cause severe symptoms, requiring strict avoidance and, in some cases, emergency treatments like epinephrine.

A food intolerance, on the other hand, also involves the immune system but is typically associated with a delayed IgG (immunoglobulin G) response rather than an immediate IgE reaction. This type of immune response can lead to chronic, low-grade inflammation, which may contribute to symptoms like bloating, fatigue, headaches, joint pain, and digestive issues. Food intolerances are heavily influenced by gut health, as imbalances in the gut microbiome, intestinal permeability (leaky gut), and enzyme deficiencies can all play a role in how the body reacts to certain foods. Unlike food allergies, intolerances do not typically cause life-threatening reactions, and symptoms may vary based on gut health, stress levels, and overall immune function. Managing food intolerances often involves identifying trigger foods, supporting gut healing, and improving digestion rather than complete avoidance.
If you're not quite sure what is causing your symptoms testing might be the option for you. Working with a nutrition professional can remove the guess work and get you feeling like your best self again.

Small changes are often easier to manage and, in many ways, more sustainable. When you try to overhaul everything at once, it can feel overwhelming and make it harder to stay consistent.

Small tweaks to your diet can add up to big health benefits. Start by adding an extra serving of vegetables to your meals, swapping refined grains for whole grains, or drinking more water instead of sugary drinks. And remember, a colourful plate equates to a variety of nutrients! 🌈🍓🥦 Each colour in your fruits and veggies provides unique health benefits, so aim for a mix to support overall well-being.

For extra guidance and personalised support, working with a nutrition professional can make these changes even easier. They can help tailor small, sustainable adjustments to your specific needs, making healthy eating feel more natural and achievable.
