💜 Fine words that illustrate the importance and sense in using trusted, regulated and local services 💜

Cremation adverts seem to be everywhere just now. As a Funeral Director, I’m not sure how I feel about that. A little deflated, I guess. One company in particular throw out adverts and leaflets like there is no tomorrow. This post from me to you hopefully provides you with some clear information without gimmicks, jargon and false advertising.

Locally, there are multiple Funeral Directors that, alongside us, work to a very high standard; Ian Bendall, Tranquility & Jardine Funeral Directors make up a profession of skilled, regulated and caring independent businesses. All of whom, offer a direct cremation service for under £1700.00. My funeral directing colleagues and I ensure that our care facilities are fit for purpose, our staff are professional, our vehicles are appropriate, and our service is local. The cremation takes place at Roucan Loch, and the person who has died is cared for within the funeral director’s premises. It’s personal, it’s professional and it’s carried out with care and respect by each and every one of us.

National companies, who seem to be bombarding the tv channels come 4pm can’t say the same. They aren’t cheaper, in fact more expensive for a distant level of service. The deceased is conveyed to East Kilbride in a van and cremated in Glasgow. When the time comes, your contact is with a call center, it’s £1750.00 and truth be told, I’m not sure what the facilities are like or who cares for the person who has died. The answers aren’t readily accessible.

I care about the standards we work by and I’m proud to serve Dumfries and Galloway alongside other Funeral Directors in the region who feel the same. Transparent, compassionate and professional. No multi-million pound campaigns, just a clear, regulated service, locally.

Last week, I had the pleasure of conducting a beautiful Vow Renewal ceremony for an incredible couple celebrating 50 years of marriage 💛💛

Their feedback was lovely to receive. As a celebrant, all we ever need from our wonderful families, is to hear that they were happy with their ceremony 💜

And it was great to work with the 'gem' and 'camera wizard' that is Cameron Barnett Technical! 🎥

The widow/widowers group is still running on Thursday's at The Kings Arms Hotel. It's been really lovely to see such wholesome friendships form following bereavements.

Grief is as unique to an individual as their fingerprint. There is no one right way to grieve, and no two people’s reactions will be the same.
If you are grieving, don’t be afraid to talk, or not talk; cry or not cry; be with people or be alone.

We are all different - there is no timescale for grief - and there is some incredible support available if you are going through the grieving process, or want to help someone who is. 💜

Recently, I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting with a wonderful couple who are celebrating 50 incredible years of marriage with a Vow Renewal Ceremony - conducted by yours truly!

It will be a magical, quirky and memorable event with family at it's centre - and I, for one, can't wait to be a small part of their day of Golden Celebrations!

💜As an Independent Celebrant, I am privileged to be able to incorporate prayers, blessings and poems that reflect individual beliefs and faiths.
In the last few years I have had the honour of including elements of many faiths - from Christianity to Paganism to Buddhism (like the lovely words below) - which contribute to the crafting of an individual and meaningful ceremony to truly celebrate a life.
