OVERDOSE WARNING - PLEASE SHARE

Dumfries and Galloway Alcohol and Drug Partnership is raising an urgent alert following recent he**in use (smoked or injected) in the region that has tragically resulted in serious harm and death.

Although it has not yet been confirmed by testing locally, the presence of synthetic opioids as well as other combinations of substances has been found in the drug supply in Scotland. These substances are extremely dangerous and unpredictable. In some cases, people have collapsed almost immediately after taking the drug, with breathing difficulties and rapid deterioration.

We’ve also had reports that the he**in may look or behave differently. Some batches have a sticky texture, unusual smell, or change colour when cooked. But it’s important to stress: even if a drug looks normal, it can still be deadly. You simply can’t know what’s in it or how strong it is.

We urge everyone to treat all drugs with extreme caution
