Why do we close our eyes in Kundalini Yoga?

Why do people do this with their hands in yoga? It’s called Gyan Mudra.

Connecting the energy of the individual self and universal consciousness, this mudra calms the mind and brings focus, clarity and spiritual awareness which is why it is often used during meditation.

The thumb can also represent ego while the index finger is connected with wisdom, so this mudra is also thought to overcome ignorance and is known as the seal of knowledge.

Feeling off-balance at this time of year?

In Kundalini Yoga we talk about the ten bodies. These are the energetics of the body. Others might call them The Subtle Body. They are:

Soul Body, Negative Mind, Positive Mind, Neutral Mind, Physical Body, Arc Line, Aura, Pranic Body, Subtle Body and Radiant Body.

This Kriya (set of exercises) helps to awaken these bodies; to bring energetic balance.

As I am not able to teach my in person kundalini quickies in January, we are moving online until February.

We will continue our slowing into winter practices with gentle meditative kriyas focusing on breath, rhythm and inward gaze.

These sessions will still be 45 min quickies suitable for beginners. You do not need to have attended my in person classes to join. You are very welcome even if you are completely new to yoga.

Sessions will be recorded if you are unable to attend live, so that you can fit them in whenever life allows 🙏

Monday’s kundalini yoga classes are a great way in to this deep practice.

The 45min sessions introduce you to lots of different aspects of kundalini yoga without the intensity of the 90 min standard class ( though you should also try one of these too!)

We will work with movement, mantra, breath work, meditation and mudra. We will explore the energetic channels of the body, looking to bring balance and raise the kundalini energy safely.

This is all done in a safely held space with an experienced yoga teacher (that’s me! Kelly 😊)

I also offer bespoke one to one sessions for those interested in delving deeper.
