Some of our committee members will be at the Orkney Rugby Football Club this Saturday, continuing to raise awareness about this vital cause. We're committed to sharing information and promoting the importance of recognising signs and symptoms early as well as encouraging checks, and supporting open conversations. Together, we can help Orkney men and their families 🩵🤍

Orkney RFC x Orkney Prostate Awareness

This Saturday marks our first home match of the season for the 1st XV – and it’s set to be an extra special occasion.

We’re proud to be supporting Prostate Awareness Month in partnership with Orkney Prostate Awareness. Ahead of kick-off, Ken Amer will present the club with a set of match balls featuring both the Orkney RFC crest and the Orkney Prostate Awareness logo – a visible reminder of the importance of awareness, conversation, and early detection.

In the build-up to the game, we’ll be using our platform to help spread the word and encourage our community to get informed and get checked. On matchday itself, members of the Orkney Prostate Awareness group will be present at the club, available for a chat and to share information.

It’s a cause that matters deeply – not just to rugby, but to our whole community.

We’ve got a date for your diary this weekend folks ☕️

We’re in Kirkwall for our next Parish Cuppa Event! Join us on Saturday from 10am - 12 in the BB Hall as we get together for another fun cuppa and a serious blether.

As always families are welcome! We’ll have freshly made pancakes on the go to enjoy with your tea and coffee and a chat from our committee member, Dr Richard Brunt about the importance of recognising the signs and symptoms of potential prostate issues.

New year, new Parish Cuppa location! ☕️

Some of our OPA committee and Rotarians from Orkney Rotary Club - District 1010 have been hard at work today adding some last minute touches to the obstacles for tomorrow’s Orkney Festive Mud Run 🎄

From climbing walls to tunnels, scramble nets to balance beams, there’s plenty for our runners to look forward to! We’d also like to say a big thanks to Orkney Builders (Contractors) Limited and Andrew Sinclair Ltd for their assistance in the course’s construction 👏🏼👷🏻‍♂️

Just 4 days to go! 👀

Thank you so much to those of you who have already signed up to take part in the festive mud run - we’re glad to see so many keen folk! Here’s a bit more info for those of you thinking to join in the muddy fun:

📍 Start and finish line: Orkney Rugby Football Club

⏱️ The Rugby Club will be open from 9:30am for registration and for any last minute entries!

🏁 Start times: 11am for individual runners. 11:30am for pairs/team entries

Once runners have completed the course, there will be plenty soup and sandwiches to be had back at the Rugby Club 🥪

🛑 Please note: Children aged 12-16 can take part in the mud run but must be accompanied by an adult who has also entered 🛑

Who’s up for another Parish Cuppa?! 🥞☕️

You’re in luck, as this weekend we’re heading to Stenness for our next event! Join us in the Stenness Hall from 2pm - 4pm this Sunday.

We’re hoping to have some live tunes from the Junior Strathspey and Reel 🎻
