Do you know someone aged 16 to 18 who is caring for someone for 16 hours a week on average?

They might be eligible for Young Carer Grant - £390.25 to spend on anything they want!

It's available on an annual basis so if they got the payment a year ago, and still care for someone, don't forget to encourage them to apply again.

Our Trading Standards team is warning the public to be wary of scammers offering live streaming services and merchandise for the Orkney 2025 International Island Games.

Folks are also urged to be on the lookout for bogus pages and websites purporting to be official Orkney 2025 channels and possibly leading to dubious schemes.

Trading Standards Manager Gary Foubister said: “We’ve been alerted to a proliferation of offers for Games-related merchandise such as flags and t-shirts and also streaming services.

“There is no need to pay for streaming services for Orkney 2025 as most events are being broadcast live – for free - on the Games’ Youtube channel.

“Purchasing merchandise online should be approached with care – you run the risk of receiving substandard products, or not receiving them in time.

“In general, we’d urge people to be wary there will be scammers out there looking for ways to capitalise on the excitement of the Games and designing offers aimed at encouraging you to part with your money – and in some cases it will be money for nothing.”

For more about how you can watch Orkney 2025 events and where you can pick up official merchandise, and where you can follow their official social media, visit the official website www.orkney2025.com

If someone you know is getting Attendance Allowance from the DWP, they don't have to do anything as their award will gradually transfer to Social Security Scotland's Pension Age Disability Payment.

Transfers won't happen for everyone at the same time and will take until the end of 2025 to move everyone’s benefit. We'll write to people to tell them that this is happening.

There will be no gaps in entitlement and people should continue to report any change of circumstances to DWP until the move is complete.
