Knead Massage

Knead Massage Specialising in sports and remedial massage, I offer top to toe therapeutic massage treatments including aromatherapy, reflexology and Thai foot massage

I began my massage journey in 2000 by completing my Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy, having been inspired by the effectiveness of treatments I had received myself as a client. Whilst working from Napiers Herbal Healthcare in Edinburgh I went on to expand my practice by gaining further qualifications in a number of complementary massage therapies including reflexology, sports and hot stone massage. After working at Napiers for almost 10 years, I returned to full-time education, and began to focus on providing massage at sporting and leisure events as well as within workplace-based settings. Being trained in both therapeutic and remedial massage techniques, these can be used either to address specific physical symptoms, or alternatively provide a luxurious treatment focused on pure relaxation. Treatments themselves will begin with a short consultation where clients have an opportunity to discuss, in confidence, any existing health conditions, injuries or lifestyle concerns that they may have. This allows me to direct each individual treatment towards meeting your needs using the most effective techniques possible. In line with my personal ethos I use ethically-sourced, organic oils that are rich in nutrients and kind to your skin. In addition to therapeutic treatments, I have a number of qualifications in teaching adult learners and was responsible for delivering vocational aromatherapy and reflexology courses at Stevenson College Edinburgh for a number of years alongside my massage practice.

Are you okay this week? It's okay to not be okay, and with the theme of this years Mental Health Awareness Week being Community, take a few moments this week to reach out to someone if they don't seem quite themselves. It could make a massive difference.

It's Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

Here’s your reminder to check in with yourself, your family, and your colleagues.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, so let’s talk about it. Every conversation is a step towards breaking the stigma. 💬✨

Really pleased to see my advert & editorial in The Orcadian Health and Wellbeing feature this week. It's been just over 25 years since I first qualified as a Clinical Aromatherapist, before continuing to learn a range of therapeutic and sports techniques - not really sure where all the time has gone! Have so many happy memories of both colleagues and clients, not to mention many long days of event massage (before social media thankfully!) 😂

Regular clients might be seeing a change in my working pattern this year as I've reduced the number of appointments available on Fridays. This could mean a small difference in the booking times so be careful not to get caught out! I'm SO sorry if this affects your treatment, and I'd recommend booking a week or two in advance if at all possible, to make sure you get the time that works best for you. The good news is that I'll still have availability on Tuesday evenings at the Pickaquoy Centre too. For bookings, contact The Picky, T: 879900, or book online https://bookings.pickaquoy.com/scuba6/stellar2/start.php

With the change in weather this week, it's been a reminder that it's time to be aware of how we're feeling and make sure we're looking after ourselves as well as those around us. Making time for a walk, getting out in those few hours of daylight and trying a keep a good sleep pattern all play a part in keeping us mentally and physically well over the winter months.

Mental Health Awareness Week 13-19th May 2024
Research evidence suggests that massage could have a positive impact on stress as well as stress-related mental health challenges. Whilst massage can't replace approaches such as psychotherapy or medication, for some folks massage can potentially play a helpful role in managing mental health.

If you’re experiencing tension, stress or pain, a little bit of touch may be just what you need. Massage — a general term for pressing,…
