Please see information below for a new drop in service that allows direct access to the Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership and Relationships Scotland Orkney as well as other services such as harm reduction, groupwork, signposting and family support.
Alcohol & Drug recovery support drop in *Open today* from 1.30pm - 4.30pm at the Kings Street Halls. No appointment is needed and is available to anyone that is impacted by alcohol and/or drug use - directly or indirectly. We asked Rebecca Scott from Relationships Scotland Orkney a couple of questions this week as she is one of the workers involved in this service regarding the drop in and what to expect.
What can I expect if I came along to the drop in?
A warm welcome and a group of supportive people who are ready to offer information and help on what help is available in Orkney. This could be help for you or perhaps a loved one. There might even be a cuppa! There's information to take away as well as someone to talk things through with.
Who is going to be there to support people?
The NHS Drug and Alcohol Team will be there to discuss how to keep you safe with harm reduction information & equipment if required. I'll be there to talk about the emotional and practical support which is available too and offer signposting to other services. We also have the Support Group meeting between 2.30pm to 3.30pm that is open to anyone over the age of 18.
With this being a new support service, what makes it stand out and why should I make the effort to come along?
We want to make accessing support as easy as possible, and sometimes making appointments can be tricky. We want to offer something which removes some of those barriers where you can just drop in past and learn a little more in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
Thanks Rebecca and please find more information attached on the poster. Feel free to send us any questions direct or pop past Kings Street Halls later to speak with Rebecca and the friendly team there.
