Solitude, seclusion, a space to overcome great sadness or addictions that hold fast. Winter is the hermit's time, the singular in an army whose choice is to be alone or to hibernate.

Do not though allow this to become a reason to consume the darkest shadows or hide away, spring is close at hand and soon life will become vibrant and fertile.

Use this time to reflect and change but don't wallow.

Today's card was drawn from the Wild Unknown deck.

5 Cups.
A horse stand idle in a field, sheltered only by a large old chestnut tree. Behind the horse 200 yards away stands a small warm stable filled with hay, warm straw and clean, clear water. Still, the horse returns to the tree, ignoring the stable. Going back means returning, facing, putting up with, sacrificing our freedom.

Sometimes, our own company, standing alone with our pain without avoidance, brings comfort in a time of uncertainty, giving us space to set the building blocks for a new start.

Today's task. Stand outside your front door. Ask yourself, what 3 things can't I go forward without. If one of them isn't you, ask again?

Starlings are cheeky gregarious creatures, flock birds, and ravenous eaters from grain to scraps.

The 10 Swords element comes in when food is scarce they are known to viciously attack other species, even foxes or dogs, for a scrap of food to see them through the long harsh winter.

What have you done lately that falls below the 10 swords? Have you been angry, vicious, greedy, craving endless wants, secretly wishing others harm?

Every new beginning starts with the 1st faltering steps. To run a race, you first need to limber up, stretch, exercise, and get the body moving in synchronicity, like a well-oiled machine. The same could be said for any new business venture, capital, like nutrients, as an investment to keep the wheels in motion.

Deep in the heartwood, thiers a fire waiting to be fed, and nurtured, growth is possible if only the willing is shown.

Bringing together the Fox & the Ace of Cups. Heartbreaking, but courageous, a war thats winnable, justifiable, even if you lose the reason you battled for in the first place. Where's your f***ing loyalty, to yourself if nothing else. Go back and read the Fox card, consider the message. You're here, present, alive, pi**ed off, angry, justifiably!! Yeah, you're still in yesterday's sweat pants and T shirt, playing the same fu***ng song hoping for what? They'll come back, trash your life, your bed, your mental health? Yes, I suck, I know, but you're still fu***ng reading.

Love for the self. Survival after crashing. Sometimes, the most difficult decision is to survive long enough each day without crumbling. Yes, this meaning is rough. We all have days where it's just about one step and then another.

Fox drawn from the Druid Animal Oracle deck.

Sly, cunning and wary of strangers, both human and animal. These are well know in animal lore, what may not be as well known is thier ability to follow a scent over miles back to an old set or lair to find safety of a clutch of cubs. Foxes have been known to traverse hundred of miles in some cases.

Despite the media lies and farmers spreading rumours like manure, foxes rarely if ever affect sheep, cattle or any livestock expect in cases of outside wild births where they act as a clean up crew.

Foxes are hunters, but if the choice is a fresh kill or carrion, the latter often wins.

Foxes spiritual teachings are simple, knowing when to be silent and when to act, when to hunt, or to hide.

Apple - Malus domestica
So many stories surround the Apple, from the ubiquitous Adam & Eve parable to the wicked witch and her poisoned chalice
it's no surprise we are both captivated and fearful of this sweet fruit. From pies, cakes and more we consume more than any other wild fruit with many choosing supermarket varieties over the wild. The first bite of a ripe apple from an orchard transports us back to childhood memories (I know it does for me). Scrumping apples was a right of passage for every boy and girl, the sweet nectar was always worth being caught.

Like you the apple tree holds mystery, legend and lore, your hard exterior against the world protects the vital core. Storm and sun will help you grow, and with experience fruits of your labour will grow and be enjoyed.

Like you, the apple feeds many a hungry belly and gives refuge to those caught in life's storm.

Of course, it's this card, a sad tale of stagnation, missed opportunities, and a lack of motivation. The end of a year doesn't mean the end of problems, what must resonate is change & determination being the watch words for a new year. Your resistance to change, and recurring negative cycles won't change without energy extended and action being taken.

The balls in your court, the decision is ultimately yours, so get up, get on & get out!! The world is waiting for this new and exciting 2026 version, so make it happen & NO EXCUSES!!

Wands - Drawn from the Red Dead tarot deck.

All the 5's represent waiting of some kind, and usually due to restrictions or counsel stopping us from going forward with plans or ideas. We can go quiet, get mad, let our frustrations get the better of us, or just fu***ng wait it out!!

My therapist once told me that this card would be my undoing, and she was rignt, a little too correct, in fact. A big lesson there. but I digress. This time of year is a huge dichotomy, caught between looking back, while being dragged forward.

My advice is this, write down on a blank sheet of paper all that s**t you can't ever say out loud, and on the 31st dig a hole, start a fire or plant a tree, and include that piece of paper. Won't solve all your problems, make you rich or get you laid, but it will settle an argument, the internal one. Yea, that one!! Peace out!!
