✨It’s coming up for 4 years that I’ve been a practicing Bowen Therapist in Kirriemuir.

✨ Along the way I’ve been able to help many clients to release tension, reduce their pain levels and re-balance their bodies.

✨ This week I’m shining a spotlight on the conditions below, because I’ve witnessed, in practice, the benefits that Bowen Therapy can bring to clients who suffer from them.

✨ If you or a family member are looking for an increase in your sense of overall wellbeing or you feel like you would benefit from having a greater freedom of movement in your body, then please do get in touch. 👐🏻

🧠 Chronic stress shouldn't be a permanent state.

The EMMETT Technique uses a light touch to signal the nervous system to let go of deep-seated physical tension.

By using specific reset points, practitioners can help clients shift out of fight or flight mode without the need for heavy physical force.

Calm the system, restore the body.

Benefits of light touch therapies include Improved Circulation and Tissue Healing:

Light touch therapy, particularly when applied to areas with fascial restrictions, can improve blood flow and encourage the movement of lymphatic fluid. This helps reduce swelling and promote the healing of tissues.
Research Example: A study on manual lymphatic drainage (which is a type of light touch therapy) found that it was effective in reducing swelling in individuals with lymphedema and promoting overall tissue health.

The EMMETT Technique also has a lymphatic drainage technique that helps promote health and relaxation.

It’s a common misconception, however the EMMETT Technique is NOT massage! 🙅‍♀️

While both can leave you feeling relaxed, they work in very different ways and can complement one another.

The EMMETT Technique is a unique neuromuscular release method which, unlike massage that involves long, kneading strokes to manipulate tissue, uses light finger pressure on specific critical points.

These points act as switches, sending an immediate signal to the brain via the nervous system to:
🔹 Release muscle tension
🔹 Improve range of motion
🔹 Reset muscle memory

It’s fast gentle, and can even be performed through clothing!

Athletes push their limits and recovery matters just as much as performance.

That’s where the EMMETT Technique comes in 💪

This gentle, targeted approach may help reduce muscle tension, support flexibility, and promote faster recovery, making it a valuable tool for athletes of all kinds.

🏃‍♂️ Many long-distance runners have reported improved range of motion and less post-race soreness after EMMETT sessions.

🧠 It works by using light touch on specific points to reset muscle memory and support natural function, no deep pressure or manipulation needed.

💡 Tip: Incorporating EMMETT sessions in your training cycle (especially post-event) may assist in restoring balance and reducing the risk of strain.

I’m a certified practitioner in the EMMETT technique. If you need a helping hand to achieve better mobility and freedom of movement, then please do get in touch 🏋️🏌️‍♂️🤸🏻‍♀️🏃‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️

Muscle tension and mobility go hand-in-hand 🤝

When muscles are tight or restricted, they limit movement and flexibility, making it harder to perform everyday activities or exercise.

Muscle tension can arise from stress, poor posture, repetitive movements, or injury, and it can cause discomfort and stiffness.

Addressing muscle tension using the EMMETT Technique allows the body to move with greater ease, supporting better posture and improving both physical performance and daily function 😀
