From today, younger women (aged 25 to 49) who test negative for HPV, meaning they are at very low risk of cervical cancer over the next 10 years, will safely be invited every 5 years rather than every 3, in line with major clinical evidence.

This change is based on strong evidence showing that people without HPV are at very low risk of cervical cancer.

If you missed your last one, book an appointment with your GP.

☀️🔥 Stay Safe in the Hot Weather 🔥☀️

As temperatures rise, it’s important to look after yourself and others, especially babies, young children, older people, and those with long-term health conditions.

🧊 Top tips to stay cool and safe:

✅ Drink plenty of water - stay hydrated
✅ Avoid the sun between 11am–3pm
✅ Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
✅ Use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
✅ Keep your home cool by closing curtains during the day
✅ Never leave anyone (especially children or pets) in a parked car

🚨 Signs of heat exhaustion include:
• Dizziness or headache
• Excessive sweating
• Feeling sick or very thirsty
• Fast breathing or pulse

If someone is showing these signs, move them to a cool place, give them water, and lie them down. If they don’t improve within 30 minutes, call 111.

Let’s enjoy the sun safely! 🌞

Struggling with Hay Fever? You’re Not Alone! 🤧🌼

Hay fever (also known as allergic rhinitis) affects millions in the UK, especially during spring and summer when pollen counts are high. Common symptoms include:

✔️ Sneezing
✔️ Runny or blocked nose
✔️ Itchy eyes, throat, or ears
✔️ Watering, red eyes
✔️ Feeling tired

💊 The good news? Hay fever can often be managed with over-the-counter antihistamines, nasal sprays, and eye drops.

🟢 Tips to help ease symptoms:
• Keep windows closed when pollen counts are high
• Shower and change clothes after being outside
• Wear wraparound sunglasses to protect your eyes
• Apply a small amount of Vaseline around your nostrils to trap pollen

📲 Check your local pollen forecast on the Met Office website and plan ahead!

Let’s stay healthy and enjoy the season! 🌤️
