What is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month?
Every March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. It's our chance to put ovarian cancer in the spotlight.
In the UK, over 7,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Two thirds of women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer too late when the cancer is harder to treat. And every day, 11 women die.
We won’t accept that – and we know that you won’t too. Not when survival rates in other countries are so much higher. And not when we can do something about it right now.

Cervical Cancer Prevention Week is this week from 19th to 25th January 2026 and is an opportunity to encourage women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 to come forward for their cervical screening and help us to understand the barriers stopping people from being screened.

Arranging a smear test (cervical screening) has never been easier. We have evening and weekend clinics available as well as 8am- 5pm during the week. If you are due a smear test please call the surgery.

North Yorkshire NHS Talking Therapies is proud to be the first NHS service in the UK to offer Tend VR – an innovative treatment delivering mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) through immersive virtual reality (VR) headsets.

💡 Patients with mild to moderate depression or anxiety can now:

Step into calming VR environments like riversides, mountain lakes and hillside villas
Experience guided mindfulness practices in a more engaging, interactive way
Benefit from an 8‑week programme combining VR sessions with a companion app to support mindfulness between appointments

📍 Available to anyone aged 17+ registered with a GP in North Yorkshire.
