NHS Harrogate and Rural District CCG Harrogate and Rural District CCG is the NHS organisation that commissions (or buys) health services for the residents of the Harrogate and rural district.

The CCG is the NHS organisation that commissions (or buys) health services for the residents of the Harrogate and Rural District locality. It is a membership organisation of 17 GP practices (two practices have recently merged) and serves a resident population of approximately 160,000 people. The CCG is a relatively small organisation directly employing 55 staff, which equates to 44 full time equiv

alent posts (FTE) on the 31st March 2016. The CCG’s membership organisation work with senior managers and lay representatives makes decisions about which health services to commission in this locality area. The CCG’s key objective is to improve the health outcomes of the local population. The CCG’s role is to commission the vast majority of services that local people may need to access either in hospital or in the community including:

• Planned hospital care
• Urgent and emergency care, including ambulances
• Rehabilitation care
• Community health services
• Mental health and learning disability services
• Primary Care

The CCG is a clinically-led organisation; GPs on the Governing Body each take a lead for specific areas of care. The GPs and managers work in partnership within the organisation.
