Masks now mandatory when visiting our hospitals.

As we move through the winter months, we are seeing a sharp increase in respiratory illnesses, including colds, flu and other winter viruses, as well as cases of diarrhoea and vomiting in our community.

To help protect our patients, visitors, and staff, masks are mandatory when visiting our hospitals effective immediately.

We understand how important it is to see your loved ones, but by staying home if you're unwell, you are helping to reduce the spread of infections and protect those who are most at risk.

If you are eligible for flu, COVID-19 or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination this winter, please attend your appointment. Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you from serious illness.

COVID-19 Vaccination: DROP-IN CLINICS

Who is eligible? People aged 80 years and older and anyone aged six years and over who has a weakened immune system.

If eligible, you would have received a letter from Powys Teaching Health Board with an appointment date and time. If it is more convenient, you can now attend one of our drop-in clinics. No appointment is needed, drop in to any location at the below dates and times to get your COVID-19 vaccination.

Why do some people need a winter COVID-19 vaccination? Like some other vaccines, levels of protection may begin to reduce over time. The winter dose will help protect you for longer. It will also help to reduce the risk of you needing to go to hospital due to COVID-19 infection.

📣📆The 2025-26 flu vaccination campaign will be running in Powys from 1st October 2025.

❗It is very important to get your flu vaccine every year if you are eligible. It is one of the best ways to protect against flu.❗

👉 All eligible people in Powys will be contacted by their GP practice to offer the flu vaccine.
👉 School aged children that attend school will receive the flu nasal spray from a school nurse. If your child does not attend school, please make an appointment at your GP surgery.
👉 You can also receive the flu vaccination at your local community pharmacy.
