Hill Cottage Retreat Centre is a secluded venue in the Welsh Marches near Knighton, Powys. The Centre is set in about 10 acres of countryside, offering a calm, natural atmosphere ideal for reflection. Beautiful walks along the Offa’s D**e Path begin just a short distance from the centre

This retreat offers a space to land, rest, and gently recharge. We’ll explore the kaleidoscopic richness of presence and its many qualities—including strength, joy, stillness, and compassion. As we begin to soften efforting and reliance on coping strategies, we're able to feel these qualities that are always available to us, as lived experience.

The retreat will include periods of meditation, movement, enquiry and silent periods. There is free time to walk and swim in the natural swimming pool.

Resting in Presence Retreat June 9th-14th 2023

Hill Cottage Retreat Centre is situated in the Marches of mid-Wales, near Knighton, just into Wales, in Powys. The retreat centre offers space for reflection, creativity and interaction with others and the environment in mutually beneficial ways.

The centre is set in ten acres of land, the centre includes a young orchard and woodland, a natural swimming pond, gardens for contemplation, and wildflower pastures bordered by a meandering brook. The Centre is run on principles of sustainability and mutuality.

Accommodation is provided within a number of carefully designed barns. There is a range of single and shared accommodation (2 people) spread across the barns. Vegetarian and vegan meals are prepared on site using fresh local ingredients.

Praise for the Course

Do it, it is life changing, when I was considering the course I was thinking I haven’t got a compassionate voice for myself but I was amazed that I can now find it and use it at difficult times in my life. I see the course as an investment into your life.

In the pre covid days I would never imagined attending a course online but it really worked. In fact it probably made it more accessible to me.

I really liked doing this online. Often the logistics of getting to an evening course can be a real barrier so this was a very user friendly and accessible way of delivering the course.

5 day teacher led retreat at Hill Cottage, offering space to recuperate, connect and rest deeply in natural awareness.

We will explore insight and compassion-based practices though meditation, compassionate enquiry and movement. There will be opportunities to meet in small groups and for personal interviews with the teacher. Outside of these times, the retreat will remain largely in silence. This spacious week-long format includes opportunities to connect with the natural environment, walking and relaxing in the beautiful Welsh countryside and swimming in the retreat centre's natural swimming pool. There will be time to rest held by the supportive field of collective practice.

Weekly Online Gathering March 26th 10am-11.30 (donation based)

I'm offering an online (zoom) space for anyone who wants to connect over the next couple of weeks/months. I'm suggesting I kick the space off with a short led meditation practice, then move into connecting with each other in small groups in online chat rooms. I'm not interested in being too prescriptive about the space but I'd like to hear some poetry, some music and move our collective body together. I'd like to include some compassion-based practices, some trauma-based grounding and regulating.

There's a bonanza of online resources becoming available and its mostly free. It will be good to share our resources and explore ways of making the most of our time at home.
I know not everyone likes being seen on a screen and some people find it hard to talk in a big online group so you can leave your camera off, you can opt out of talking altogether, you can curl up on the couch and just listen.

The Seeing Through Retreat, Wales, is booking up so dont leave it to the last minute. There is 1 camping place left and 5 beds.

The retreat offers a variety of ways to explore seeing through self, freeing ourselves of limiting beliefs, and realising the greater possibilities of what it means to be human.

Our aim on this 5-day teacher led retreat is to build a warm, safe, and loving community to support us as we make our way back to trust, connection and clear seeing.

Here's a bit of feedback from last time...

The retreat was enjoyable and transformative. Colette and Maya created the conditions for great warmth, love, acceptance, creativity and peace.

The week was hugely valuable to my practice and my life and I'd recommend the retreat to anyone anyone wanting to deepen their practice in a supportive and beautiful environment.

We have come to point in our evolution where it's absolutely clear that holding on desperately to the way things have been done up until now is no longer an option. Change is knocking on the door. Maybe you feel it in your own life and maybe you witness the tension of resistance to change played out on the global stage?

No single thing in this world matters more now than waking up. There is doubt...about our abilities, yes we have thoughts like this but so what? It's just another thought pattern to see and allow.

The work of a life time is to see what we really are and what we are not. The work we do now will have consequences beyond our imagining. Through our individual actions we can make a collective contribution and there is no other time to start, only now.

The 'Seeing Through', Radically Human retreat offers the opportunity for you to begin the process of transformation, to gently explore how the illusory sense of self is created, how this leads to separation and suffering, and how this process can be dissolved.

You dont need to be 'special' to take part in this work, you dont need to have mediated for 40 years, to be buddhist or have a guru. You dont even need to have visited India.
All you need is to want to be free from the strategies and thought patterns and perceptions that limit you, that downsize you.

We suggest that you begin your journey here with the retreat, enjoying the camaraderie, community and support of others. We can then discuss long term practice options that will support you beyond.
