It’s Maternal Mental Health Week, and I wanted to share a part of my journey. After my youngest daughter Lily was born, I experienced PPD (Postpartum Depression), anxiety, and mild PTSD. It was a really tough time, and I often felt so alone with these overwhelming feelings. ❤️
One of the hardest parts was the intrusive thoughts. They were scary and made me doubt myself. Eventually after a lot of encouragement from my husband, I reached out for help and started counselling. It made a HUGE difference in learning to manage those thoughts.
If you’re reading this and feeling like you’re struggling, please know that you are NOT alone. These feelings are more common than we talk about, and there is support available. 🙏
Please reach out to someone you trust. It could be a friend, your partner, your midwife, health visitor, or GP. Sharing your feelings is the first step towards getting the support you deserve. 💖
