Supporting the next generation of counsellors

From the very beginning, we’ve opened our doors to placement counsellors. It’s something we’re truly passionate about — giving trainee counsellors real experience, a safe and supportive space to learn, and the chance to see what community-driven, trauma-informed support really looks like.

Today, we want to shine a light on Lorriann, one of our amazing placement counsellors here at Stable Minds. She brings compassion, curiosity and a genuine desire to make a difference to every session she’s part of.

We believe that by nurturing future counsellors, we’re not only helping them grow — we’re helping build a stronger, kinder future for mental health support in our community.

Thank you, Lorriann, for the warmth and energy you bring to our team. We feel lucky to walk alongside you on this journey.

Who helps the helpers?

We spoke to a paramedic about what self-care means to him. In a role where you’re constantly responding, constantly holding it together — it’s easy to forget about your own needs.

He told us it’s the small, steady things that keep him going.
Spending time with his family. Sitting down for a meal together. Being present at home after a day of holding so much for others.

At Stable Minds, we believe that those in helping roles deserve the same care they give so freely. Just because someone looks strong doesn’t mean they aren’t carrying heavy things.

If you’re in a role where you look after others — please take a moment to check in with yourself too. Your wellbeing matters.

Meet the Minds 💙
Name: Zayne
Role: Creative Media Lead
Works with: The whole team, helping bring Stable Minds’ work to life through visuals, storytelling and creative content

What do they bring to Stable Minds?
Zayne brings fresh energy, a creative eye and a real understanding of how to communicate emotion through imagery. He’s responsible for everything from filming and photography to editing, designing and helping us show who we are to the outside world

Zayne helps us capture the heart of Stable Minds, whether that’s through campaign content, digital projects, social media visuals or video storytelling. He makes sure what people see on the outside reflects what we feel on the inside

His background is in content creation and media production, but it’s his ability to make people feel comfortable and seen behind the camera that really makes a difference. He just gets it

Why he does this work:
“I love being part of something that actually matters. Stable Minds isn’t just a service, it’s a feeling – and my job is to help show that. It’s about telling real stories, capturing the small moments and helping people feel connected before they even walk through the door”

One thing you might not know about Zayne:
He’s usually up before most of us have even hit snooze, out training for an Ironman. Focused, driven and always quietly pushing himself, he brings that same energy into every project he works on

Who helps the helpers?

In this video, we asked fellow helping professionals how they look after themselves. Because the truth is, those in caring roles often put themselves at the bottom of the list.

At Stable Minds, we do things differently. We check in with each other – regularly, honestly and with care. Just because someone looks like they’re doing fine doesn’t always mean they are.

Whether you're a teacher, therapist, support worker, nurse, or volunteer – your wellbeing matters too. Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s what allows us to keep showing up, for others and ourselves.

Let this be your reminder today: You are just as worthy of care as the people you support. 💛

We’re proud to begin our third season working in partnership with , with our founder Milly continuing in her role as Head Psychotherapist.

This ongoing relationship reflects a shared commitment to prioritising the mental wellbeing of players — offering confidential, consistent support behind the scenes throughout the season.

Since day one, this role has done more than support the club.
Milly’s wage goes directly to Stable Minds CIC, helping us extend vital mental health support to people in our local community.

Quiet impact. Real care.
On the pitch and beyond it.

Meet the Minds 💙
Name: Sarah
Role: Director of Administration and Facilities
Works with: Everyone, making sure our spaces, systems and team have what they need to run smoothly

What do they bring to Stable Minds?
Sarah has been involved with Stable Minds since near the beginning, quietly supporting behind the scenes at events, festivals and community projects. She’s always been the one making sure things run smoothly, calm, capable and always one step ahead

From next month, Sarah will be stepping into a more forward-facing role, taking the lead on day-to-day admin, accounts and the running of our hubs. She’ll be keeping everything organised, well-stocked and working as it should so our practitioners can focus on the people who need them

With a background in finance, a sharp eye for detail and a naturally caring nature, Sarah brings structure, steadiness and warmth to everything she does. Whether it’s logging invoices, sorting supplies or making sure the kettle’s always on, she holds things together in a way that lets the rest of the team breathe

Why she does this work:
“I’ve always believed in what Stable Minds stands for. It’s built on care, connection and doing things properly. I’ve loved being part of it from the outside but now I’m excited to be stepping into a bigger role and helping things run smoothly from the inside too”

One thing you might not know about Sarah:
Her version of self-care is going to the gym and spending time with her nanna. She’s practical, thoughtful and the first to quietly make sure everything and everyone is okay

Step inside a space created with the community…

When we asked adults what they really needed from mental health support, they didn’t want clinical or cold.
They wanted safe, warm and human.

So together, we built this hub:
✅ A drop-in centre where you can simply come as you are
✅ A group space for connection, conversation and resilience
✅ An arts & crafts room for creative healing and gentle expression
✅ Calm counselling rooms shaped to feel welcoming, private and safe

Every part of this building reflects what the community asked for. It’s co-created with the people who use it – designed around real lives, not rigid systems.

💙 Take a walk around Stable Minds and see how community-led care feels different.

Meet the Minds💙
Name: Patrick
Role: Operations Director and Lead Psychotherapist
Works with: Adults navigating addiction, trauma, grief and emotional overwhelm

What do they bring to Stable Minds?
Patrick brings calm, depth, and a quiet strength that runs through the heart of Stable Minds. He’s been part of our journey since near the beginning, working closely with Milly and Sarah to grow something that feels different – something human.

As Operations Director, Patrick is the one who keeps things steady behind the scenes, making sure our team can focus fully on the people we support. But he’s also a highly experienced therapist who works with adults facing some of life’s most difficult chapters.

His background spans community drug and alcohol services, detox units, GP surgeries and private practice. He meets people where they are, without judgement, and offers a kind of support that’s steady, honest and rooted in real understanding.

Why he does this work:
“What we’re building at Stable Minds is something special. It’s not just about what we do now, it’s where it’s going. The vision, the pace, the way it puts people first. It feels real. I wanted to be part of something that’s actually making a difference and this is it.”

One thing you might not know about Patrick:
Self-care for Patrick looks like watching United, spending time with his family, and keeping things simple. He’s not one for fuss – but he’s a steady presence, and a big part of what keeps Stable Minds grounded.
