                                            🌿 Listening to My Back: Releasing Tension, Emotionally and Physically 🌿
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been struggling with a bad back. At first, the symptoms eased off and I thought I was through the worst of it — but over the last few days, that familiar tightness has crept back in. It’s not the sharp kind of pain, more that deep, tense feeling that makes every movement feel restricted, like the muscles just won’t let go.
And honestly, when I take a step back, it makes complete sense. Life’s been full recently — a few things on my mind, a few worries that have sat heavier than I’d like to admit. Historically, my lower back has always been a bit of a “hotspot” for holding tension. It’s the place where stress, worry, and emotional strain seem to take up residence when I haven’t given them enough space to move through me.
The Mind–Body Connection
It’s something I’ve come to recognise over the years: my body speaks to me long before my mind catches up. When I’m anxious, my breath shortens. When I’m overwhelmed, my shoulders creep up towards my ears. And when I’m carrying the weight of too much for too long — it settles right there, in my lower back.
This time, though, I feel more empowered. Rather than simply waiting for the discomfort to pass, I’m listening more deeply to what it’s trying to tell me. I’m working with my GP to make sure nothing structural is going on, but alongside that, I’m focusing on ways to release tension naturally — through gentle movement, mindfulness, and emotional release.
