Another Pub Trip 🍻 Enjoying the odd tipple at Plough & Flail in the heart of Mobberley! We’re so lucky to have six fantastic local pubs right on our doorstep – no need to travel far for a traditional pub outing when you’re a resident at Cranford Grange. With cosy atmospheres, friendly faces, and a great selection of drinks, our local pubs always make for a wonderful social afternoon.

One pub is still sadly closed at the moment, but we can’t wait for it to reopen — we’re determined to complete the famous “Mobberley Six Pub Crawl” this year! 🏆🍺 Here’s to good company, great pubs, and ticking off number two of the six!

A heartfelt thank you to Barbara Stephens, CEO of Dementia Pathfinders, for such an informative and engaging Dementia Event.

The session featured Care UK’s new guide, Staying Connected: A Guide to Dementia-Friendly Conversation, and offered valuable insight into how we can communicate more effectively with people living with dementia.
We explored how dementia is not a single disease, but an umbrella term for various brain disorders that cause nerve cells (neurons) to stop communicating, lose connections, and eventually die. Understanding which areas of the brain are affected helps explain the specific symptoms a person may experience.
The discussion led to simple, practical ways to stay connected — building understanding, easing frustration, and creating more meaningful moments in everyday life.

Thank you for helping to raise awareness and improve support for those living with dementia and those who care for them.

Gorton is in the News today for politics, but did you know its the location of an inspiring Church and Friary of St Francis, known locally as Gorton Monastery. Our visit saw the magnificent building, a true architectural masterpiece and a Grade II* listed former Franciscan friary located on Gorton Lane in Gorton, north Manchester.

Designed by the Victorian architect Edward Welby Pugin and constructed between 1866 and 1872, the monastery is a striking example of Gothic Revival architecture. Gorton Monastery remains a much-admired landmark, thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by residents.

Coats on and what a trip - it was a truly delightful day out at Northwich Quay Marina! Nestled along the scenic banks of the River Weaver, it’s such a picturesque spot for a visit.

The marina really does offer a charming blend of waterside tranquillity and lively community spirit. Strolling around the colourful canal boats, soaking up the atmosphere along the vibrant waterfront. There’s something special about wrapping up warm, taking a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, and then settling in with coffee and cake to round it all off.

Inspired by the beloved 1970s television series Little House on the Prairie, residents came together to create a beautiful scenic landscape filled with rolling hills, vast open skies, and countryside charm.

Through tearing coloured paper, layering textures, and adding drawings recreating cherished drawings. The activity encouraged, 🌤️ Creative nostalgia – reconnecting with fond memories of simpler times 💭 Personal reflection – sharing stories and emotions inspired by the series 🎨 Artistic expression – exploring colour, texture, and imagination freely 😊 Relaxation and enjoyment – spending a fun, calming afternoon together.

The finished artwork wasn’t just landscapes — it was a shared journey into memory, creativity, and fun.

Today’s pub trip saw us enjoying the odd tipple at the freehold Railway Inn in Mobberley — a cosy, family-run gem nestled near the train station. With its relaxing ambience, roaring log fires, and a warm welcome for families (and dogs!), it’s a wonderful reminder of the important role traditional pubs still play in bringing communities together. One we’ll definitely be returning to! 🍻🔥🐾

As we reach the end of February and finally feel the weather beginning to warm, thoughts naturally turn to the exciting possibilities for our new resident gardening club. Our visit today to Plumley Garden Centre proved to be the perfect place to start.

We spent a delightful time exploring the impressive range of plants and flowers, gathering inspiration and exchanging ideas for the seasons ahead. The nursery offers a wonderful selection of high-quality plants, catering to both seasoned gardeners and enthusiastic beginners alike.

Of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the charming café. With such tempting treats on offer, it would have been a shame not to indulge in the occasional slice of cake! All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring outing — a promising beginning for what we hope will be a flourishing gardening club.

We are incredibly proud to share that our Customer Relations Manager - Dawn Williams has been named one of just three finalists for Salesperson of the Year at the Care UK Stars Awards 2026.

Residents were treated to a wonderful afternoon of homemade pancakes, expertly prepared by Chefs Tim Carr and Helen Leadbeater. Served in the Grange Bistro, the pancakes were accompanied by a selection of luxurious, flavoursome toppings and were truly delicious. They were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, with the clear favourite being the classic combination of sugar and lemon.

Shrove Tuesday, which falls 47 days before Easter Sunday, has a long and cherished tradition of pancake making, with recipes appearing in cookery books as far back as 1439. It remains a very special day that brings back fond memories for many — and really, who doesn’t love a pancake?

A huge thank you to Tim and Helen for creating such a brilliant and memorable afternoon for all.
