This summers team day was at Flight Club in Manchester, where the team got to celebrate the end of term playing darts and a meal out 🎯

Just before we finished for Summer, Leah is our first Stat Therapist of the half term. She won this award for the overwhelming positive feedback she has received from her schools, excellent clinical skills demonstrated during observation, her increased confidence and contribution to the team, her resilience skills and willingness to always help others and share ideas ⭐ 🤩

Developing self-awareness and self-advocacy skills is an important part of our secondary school transition support. Natasha and Sarah have recently helped a year 6 pupil to complete a 'how to help me' poster following the completion of the Memory Magic programme ⭐

We had a team 'well-being MOT' activity during this month's team meeting. It was a great opportunity to pause, check in, and support each other as a team 💚

Summer packs all ready to go! Eve has been busy putting together home activity packs. Each one is tailored to a child’s individual goals with fun and practical ideas to help keep progress going over the holidays. ☀️

Leah has been supporting her speech sounds group with their front and back sounds. Before working on production, the children have been working on their discrimination skills. This helps children to hear and tell the difference between sounds, words and meanings (e.g. 'tea' vs 'key'). The children are encouraged to place a frog on the word that they hear 🐸 👂

Rose has been supporting Year 6 with their transition to secondary school. They have looked at timetables and discussed strategies to be able to read and understand them. They have also practised packing a school bag and recording homework in a homework diary! Good luck to Year 6 with their transition 🏫 🎒 ✏️

Natasha received a lovely thank you card and some beautiful flowers from one of the schools she has been working with this year. It's great to hear our support is making a difference 💐

We recently received training from Kirsty at Wordful on 'Trauma Informed SLT Practice. It was a fantastic day's training looking into current research on the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences, top tips for assessment and therapy and strategies which we can share with settings to support children. Two of our favourite messages were, "Every interaction is an intervention" and "Connection before correction"- phrases we remember in everything we do at Speech Leap 👍

Natasha has been using Elklan EYBIC Word Pack resources whilst delivering early language groups in school. This activity has helped to target vocabulary building, key word comprehension and prepositions all in one go 🏘️
