Stable Minds CYP

Stable Minds CYP Stable Minds CYP (Children and Young People) is a mental health CIC focusing on supporting children

12/08/2025

We were honoured to welcome the former Mayor of Knutsford as they shared powerful words on the importance of early mental health support for children and young people

Their continued support means so much to us — and to the families we serve

Because when our leaders speak up about children’s wellbeing, it helps break stigma, raise awareness, and open more doors for those who need care most

Together, we’re building a stronger, more supported future for every child

Meet the Minds
Name Alison
Role CYP Counsellor
Who she works with Children and young people aged 3 to 18 at Stable Minds CYP

Alison is trained as both an adult and child/young person’s counsellor, holding a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Level 5 Certificate in CYP Counselling. Alongside her work with children and young people here at Stable Minds, Alison brings years of experience from previous roles supporting adults, including counselling for survivors of domestic abuse.

Before qualifying as a counsellor, Alison spent many years working in education as a secondary school teacher, pastoral support worker, education welfare officer and one-to-one tutor. This rich background gives her a deep understanding of the challenges young people face both in and out of school.

What she brings to Stable Minds
Alison offers a calm, understanding space where children and young people feel safe to talk openly about their thoughts and feelings. With her broad experience, she can adapt her approach to meet each person where they are, helping them to feel heard and supported.

Why she does this work
“My main passion in life is to support others. Being a counsellor allows me to truly be there for children and young people when they need someone to listen and walk alongside them.”

Something you might not know
Before becoming a counsellor, Alison spent many years as a secondary school teacher and 1-to-1 tutor. She says those experiences taught her the importance of listening beyond the words and understanding the bigger picture in a young person’s life.

Last week we had a team training day at Stable Minds – a mix of systems training, safeguarding updates, plenty of sharing ideas for how we can keep growing… and, of course, plenty of laughs (and food, because no Stable Minds training day happens without snacks).

We left feeling connected, inspired, and a little bit full. Days like this remind us why we do what we do – it’s all about people, supporting each other so we can keep showing up for our community in the best way possible.

Meet the Minds behind CYP💙
Name: Sarah
Role: Director of Administration and Facilities
Works with: Everyone, making sure our spaces, systems and team have what they need to run smoothly

What do they bring to Stable Minds?
Sarah has been involved with Stable Minds since near the beginning, quietly supporting behind the scenes at events, festivals and community projects. She’s always been the one making sure things run smoothly, calm, capable and always one step ahead

From next month, Sarah will be stepping into a more forward-facing role, taking the lead on day-to-day admin, accounts and the running of our hubs. She’ll be keeping everything organised, well-stocked and working as it should so our practitioners can focus on the people who need them

With a background in finance, a sharp eye for detail and a naturally caring nature, Sarah brings structure, steadiness and warmth to everything she does. Whether it’s logging invoices, sorting supplies or making sure the kettle’s always on, she holds things together in a way that lets the rest of the team breathe

Why she does this work:
“I’ve always believed in what Stable Minds stands for. It’s built on care, connection and doing things properly. I’ve loved being part of it from the outside but now I’m excited to be stepping into a bigger role and helping things run smoothly from the inside too”

One thing you might not know about Sarah:
Her version of self-care is going to the gym and spending time with her nanna. She’s practical, thoughtful and the first to quietly make sure everything and everyone is okay

Meet the Minds behind CYP💙

Name: Milly
Role: Founder and Lead Psychotherapist
Works with: Children, young people, adults, families – anyone aged 3 to 103

What do they bring to Stable Minds?
Milly brings honesty, humour, lived experience, and an unwavering belief that no one should feel alone in what they’re going through. She’s trauma-informed, neurodivergent-aware, and deeply relational in the way she works. Whether someone’s in crisis or just trying to make it through the day, Milly meets them with compassion and without judgement.

She sees people, not problems. And she builds spaces where others feel safe enough to be fully themselves – mess and all.

Why she does this work:
“I founded Stable Minds because I couldn’t keep watching people be turned away for not being ‘unwell enough’. I personally know what it feels like to hit breaking point and still be told to wait. I wanted to build something that removed all of that. No thresholds. No tick boxes. Just care.

Sometimes I still can’t believe where we are now – how much it’s grown. But the heart of it hasn’t changed. It’s still about one person showing up for another, just like I did with the rainbow umbrella on that first day.”

One thing you might not know about Milly:
Her version of self-care isn’t bubble baths or journaling – it’s walking by the beach or being on the sea, somewhere quiet where the world feels still again.

She’ll always tell you to slow down, but she rarely takes her own advice. We’re working on that.
