Your Family Nutritionist

Your Family Nutritionist AfN registered Nutritionist, helping your family to love food and stay healthy from the beginning! Hi!

I am Theresa, an AfN registered Nutritionist with over 20 years experience in the field of nutrition and feeding families. I was owner of the award winning company Happy Tums and helped to run it for 8 years before deciding to start up on my own. I specialises in childhood nutrition and run weaning and fussy eater workshops in Essex and the surrounding areas. These workshops are either at local venues such as church halls, online or private group sessions in your own home are also available. Come along to learn how to give your baby the best start with food! Some of the things I cover include the baby led weaning approach, purées, choking, allergies, dropping milk feeds and so much more! I also offer you on-going support afterwards and I will always be available to answer any questions that you have via my group page which you will be added to following a workshop.

From the beginning of weaning, it is really important to sit with your baby and make this a normal mealtime routine. I know it can be hard sometimes but even if you sit and eat a small amount of what they are eating, this is a good place to start!

I have a few people asking if I offer gift vouchers and yes I do!
If you are wondering about a gift for someone this Christmas, then why not give them a gift voucher for one of my weaning or fussy eaters workshops?

If you would like one, please email me at info@yourfamilynutritionist.co.uk or drop me a message and I can sort these out for you.
Both workshops are priced at £30

It is less than a month before Christmas! For those who have been on a weaning workshop with me, you will know that the first meal I gave my kids was a roast - in our case it was chicken, roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots!

So, if you are starting complementary feeding around the 25th December, why not let your little one take part in the festive meal!

Some pesto, cheese and kale egg muffins!

So quick and tasty!

Freeze and take one out of the freezer the night before you need it (best to defrost in the fridge overnight)

Recipe at the end.
Enjoy! Perfect for weaning babies!

Ok, think I have seen it all!

I was (no more!) following a weaning "expert" on Instagram (no nutrition degree incidentally which I think is vital) and I have just seen that they are actively encouraging weaning babies to have rusks! Why?!

There is more sugar in a rusk that a McVities digestive biscuit - the second ingredient in rusks is sugar - there is nothing in this product which will be beneficial to your baby's health so I think this is a poor judgement in terms of duty of care.

There is even a message by Heinz in bold on the package reminding us about regular teeth brushing!?

I pride myself on knowledge and science when it comes to introducing solids as this is an essential part of our baby's development and health outcomes.

Please be careful what advice you read and follow - it is not all good!

Not the best pic, but I've just found this photo of Francesca eating using the baby-led weaning route when on holiday!
We stayed at a lovely hotel in Spain and it had fantastic buffet food - so she just tucked in!

Weaning on holiday can be so easy! Book onto a workshop and I'll explain more!
