A fantastic evening last night, celebrating local businesses at the King’s Lynn Mayor’s Business Awards with the Goodwins Hall team!

We were incredibly proud to be finalists in two categories – Customer Care and Sustainability – and are delighted to share that we won the ‘Customer Care’ award!

This award is a wonderful recognition of the amazing team at Goodwins Hall, who work every day to deliver Athena Care Homes’ promise of authentic care – supporting our residents while also creating a warm, welcoming and sustainable place they are proud to call home.

In the words of our Home Manager, Flavia Hansell " Winning the Customer Care Award is a moment of real pride and it truly belongs to our amazing staff and wonderful residents who make Goodwins Hall the special place that it is.

✨ A Magical Evening at Goodwins Hall, King's Lynn ✨

Our Beauty & the Beast themed Charity Ball on 21st February was truly unforgettable. 💫

We were honoured to welcome Deputy Mayor Councillor Steve Bearshaw, members of the Friendship Club, and so many wonderful supporters from our community.
A huge thank you to Emily Blake for her beautiful singing that created the perfect magical atmosphere 🎶

Most importantly, thanks to everyone who attended and supported the event, we are thrilled to have raised £1,000 for Tapping House Hospice.

And of course, a very special thank you to our amazing Goodwins Hall team whose creativity, dedication and hard work made the night so special.

Last month, something truly magical happened ✨

Jill, one of our wonderful housekeepers here at Avocet Court, was left in awe after hearing wolves howling in the early hours of the morning from her home in Ipswich.

Jill, who leads our monthly Wildlife & Conservation Club and cares for our beautiful woodland area, described the experience as “out of this world – just incredible.” 🐺🌙

Her passion for nature brings so much joy to our residents, from building bird boxes and planting bulbs to spotting deer, hedgehogs and garden birds in our wildlife area.

We’re so proud to see her story featured by the BBC News.

🎉 Celebrating 20 Years of Amberley Hall! 🎉

On 29 January, we were delighted to celebrate Amberley Hall’s 20th anniversary with a Casino Royale-themed afternoon full of fun, music, and community spirit.

Residents, families, friends, staff, and members of the local community came together to enjoy live entertainment from local singer Emily Blake, a beautifully prepared buffet, and even a little casino fun! 🎶♠️

We also proudly recognised our amazing team with long-service awards, celebrating up to 19 years of dedication. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special 💙

We celebrated Burns Night in true Scottish style across all Athena Care Homes 🎶🏴
From pipers and poetry to haggis, shortbread and even a wee dram, residents, families and local communities came together to enjoy a day full of culture, laughter and connection.

🌸 Avocet Court Care Home is blooming thanks to local kindness! 🌸
Just before Christmas, we were delighted to receive a very special donation from Thompson & Morgan UK, the UK’s largest mail-order seed and plant company, who are proudly based right here in Ipswich.

Their team arrived with a van full of beautiful hyacinth planters, ensuring no plants went to waste during the Christmas shutdown. With over 115 planters donated, every resident received one to brighten their room, with many more displayed throughout the home to lift spirits during the winter months.

As we head into spring, our residents will continue the journey with our Sow Wonderful Gardening and Wellbeing Club, replanting the hyacinths into the gardens around Avocet Court 🌱

Join us on Sunday 25th January from 10.00am, for a fun-filled 'Burns Night' celebration for all ages! Enjoy the sound of a traditional piper, a very special visit from some adorable Highland cows, plus refreshments and arts & crafts for children.

A great day of learning at Athena Care Homes! 👏

Our Central Office team all took part in Basic Life Saving Skills training today, learning:
✔️ DRSABC
✔️ How to use a defibrillator
✔️ What to do if someone is choking
✔️ Basic first aid for burns and cuts

These are skills that can make a real difference, not just in the office or our homes, but in everyday life too 💙

💙Community, kindness and coming together 💙

Alex Wood House Care Home was proud to support the Cambridge Acorn Project by hosting a community bingo fundraiser as part of The Big Give.

Thanks to the generosity of our guests and local businesses, we raised £377.90 to support children and families affected by trauma and hardship across Cambridge.

At Athena Care Homes, we believe in making moments together and being there for one another — and this event truly reflected that spirit.

This afternoon, the Year 5 children from St Catherine of Siena School in Garston, Hertfordshire, brought lots of festive cheer to our care home residents and team members via a Teams call.

Organised and guided by their teacher, Miss Hannah Wales, the children treated us to a wonderful selection of Christmas songs, including a beautiful rendition of Feliz Navidad, complete with actions!

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance and couldn’t resist joining in with the lyrics. A truly joyful afternoon for everyone involved 🎄🎶
