There is now more proof as to why ventilation of an enclosed space is vital. As we approach the colder months this is even more important both at work, play and at home.

My clinic room is ventilated at all times and between patients.

Whilst I cannot eliminate risk of infection I’m doing all I can to minimise it for both me and my patients.

Stay well everyone.

The risk of contagion is highest in indoor spaces but can be reduced by applying all available measures to combat infection via aerosols. Here is an overview of the likelihood of infection in three everyday scenarios, based on the safety measures used and the length of exposure

Interesting discussion looking at the link between chiropractic care and your immune system and stress response to times like this.

It’s long. But worth a listen

Dr. Heidi Haavik, one of the most prominent figures in chiropractic research today, sits down with Dr. Gerry Clum to discuss how practicing chiropractors can...

Clinic Update - open for Acute/Emergency Musculoskeletal Issues.
As a result of a clarification by the government as to what health services are able to be visited by patients during this period I am pleased to say that seeing a chiropractor is an allowable activity.

Whilst I stay well and if you are not demonstrating symptoms of Covid19 then, subject to a telephone consultation, I am able to treat you for the following:
Back pain
Neck pain
Joint pain
Shoulder pain including rotator cuff issues
Sports Injuries - but not muscle aches as a result of joining the Body Coach online in the morning 😆

Additional precautions to minimise the risk of spreading the virus being deployed in my clinic:
No waiting room - patients wait in their car until their appointment
All patients temperature is taken prior to entering the clinic - if you have a fever or persistent dry cough then I will not be able to treat you.
The clinic is aired during and between all treatments
The clinic surfaces that are touched by a patient are sanitised between patients
Masks and hospital grade hand sanitising gel are available for all.

Please call 07774341431 initially to discuss your issue. Advice will be given to help yourself and if the condition is severe and requires treatment then you will be invited to the clinic - subject to the above precautions.

Stay Well out there everyone - don't hesitate to call if you have a musculoskeletal issue and are worried as many of you can be helped over the phone.

The clinic is now closed to all but emergency cases.

However, please call or message me if you are suffering so that I can offer advice and talk you through self-help.

Be kind to everyone out there - together we can get through this. Selfishness will only bring bad karma

Being at home for 12 weeks with no work to go to is worrying for many.

Many of us are going to have to live a different kind of life over the coming days and weeks. These are 5 things to focus on if you are staying at home:

1. Routine is king. It will help provide structure and reduce the likelihood that you will still be in your pyjamas at 10.30am still in front of the news.

2. Watch the news at set times. Of course, it is important to be informed but try not to get into the habit of constant news checking for the latest update. Once or twice per day is sufficient and will help you feel calmer and less stressed.

3. Journalling. As I wrote about in Feel Better in 5, journaling is an incredible powerful but under-utilised tool in helping us manage our anxieties. Simply writing down how we are feeling helps, both literally and metaphorically, to take the worries out of our head and helps you to feel calmer.

4. Move every day. This is so, so important. It is essential for your physical AND your mental health. Do YouTube workouts or if you are lucky enough to have a garden, why not try moving outside. You can use bodyweight, dumbbells, skipping ropes or kettlebells.

5. Make sure you stay connected. Yes, we can't see our loved ones in person but we can absolutely use technology every single day to connect with others. It will be great for the other person, but also great for ourselves.

As the advice from the government and NHS evolves I am constantly reviewing how I continue to help my patients.

As of today I am no longer seeing 'non-urgent' cases and all patients are called the day before their appointment to discuss whether or not they should attend and for me to give advice to help each individual if they are not going to attend.

All patients are screened for a fever prior to entering the clinic and I also take my temperature every morning. This is alongside the ventilation of my clinic and sanitising of hands and surfaces. Masks are also available to wear.
These measures minimise the risk of transmission of the Covid19 virus but does not eliminate it.

Whilst I remain well I will continue to provide treatment and advice to my patients and the wider community if it is required.

I have also volunteered to provide help to the NHS as a Musculoskeletal specialist to take the burden off the amazing front line staff.

Take care everyone

Paula
