The sun is out and it’s the Spring Equinox — longer, lighter days start now. ☀️

A good point in the year to get back into a routine if things have slowed down over winter. Aim for regular movement, strength training, and getting outside more.

If something’s been niggling or stopping you from doing what you want, it’s worth getting it checked sooner rather than later.

We’re here if you need us.

As Sleep Awareness Week comes to a close, it’s a great reminder that a good night’s sleep is essential for overall health — and it plays a big role in how your back and neck feel each morning. The position you sleep in can make a real difference to how your body recovers overnight.

✨ Back-friendly sleep tips

• Side sleeping – Try placing a pillow between your knees. This helps keep your spine, hips and pelvis aligned and can ease pressure on your lower back.

• Back sleeping – If you sleep on your back, pop a pillow under your knees. This helps support the natural curve of your lower back and allows the muscles to relax.

• Support your neck – Choose a pillow that keeps your neck in line with your spine so your neck stays in a neutral position.

• Try to avoid stomach sleeping – This position can place extra strain on your back. If it’s the only position you find comfortable, try placing a pillow under your hips to help reduce pressure on your spine.

Quality sleep gives your body the chance to rest, recover and reset; helping you wake up feeling more comfortable and ready for the day. 😴✨

Think rehab is just about exercises? Think again.

Recovery also depends on:
• Sleep quality
• Stress levels
• Daily habits
• Consistency

You can do all the right rehab exercises, but if you’re exhausted, stressed, or under-recovered, progress slows down.

Join Michal, Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist, at our Health & Fitness Talk on 18th March to learn how sleep, stress management, and simple routines directly affect recovery and pain levels.

💡 Rehab isn’t just what you do in the gym — it’s what you repeat daily.

Spring is here, and the garden is calling! 🌸 But before you dig, lift, and plant, remember to look after your back.

Here are 3 simple stretches to keep your back happy while gardening:
1️⃣ Cat-Cow Stretch – gently warms up and mobilises your spine
2️⃣ Hip Flexor Stretch – eases tightness in the front of your hips from all that bending
3️⃣ Child’s Pose – gently lengthens your lower back and releases tension

💡 Tip: Listen to your body, and take breaks. Lifting with your legs and staying mindful of your posture will help keep your back feeling great!

Want more tips for gardening without the aches? Our physio-led Pilates and Strength & Fitness classes help build the strength and stability that protects your back all year round. 💚

Good posture doesn’t just protect you against back pain — it improves your overall health and appearance too.

Did you know your posture can affect more than just your back?

Slouching or sitting for long periods can contribute to:
✅ Neck and shoulder tension
✅ Headaches
✅ Reduced mobility
✅ Increased fatigue

A physiotherapist can assess your posture and provide simple, practical strategies to improve alignment and reduce discomfort.

👉 Book an assessment with our Chartered Physiotherapists today.

“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.”

At Tavistock Physio Clinics, we see this every day.

It’s not the one-off stretch, the single gym session, or the occasional posture check that makes the difference. It’s the small, steady habits — your rehab exercises done regularly, your strength work each week, your commitment to moving well — that truly change how your body feels.

Progress isn’t dramatic. It’s consistent. And that consistency is exactly what we’re here to help you build.
