National Cardiovascular Disease Prevention (CVD) Programme
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD), such as heart disease and stroke, are a common cause of ill health and the second most common cause of death in Scotland. Many risk factors for developing CVD do not cause symptoms and people may not be aware that they are at risk.
The Scottish Government has launched a programme to offer simple checks for these risk factors so that treatment can be offered to reduce the risk of developing CVD.
Patients are eligible for these checks if they are aged 35-60 and have not received a full bundle of checks in the last years.
Checks include:
Height, weight and BMI
Blood Pressure
Blood tests (Diabetes and Cholesterol)
Smoking status
Alcohol Intake
We will be contacting eligible patients by text message or letter. If you wish to take part, please contact the surgery on 01555 811200.
