⭐ Easter Holidays ⭐

It's been a very mixed week with a brilliant holiday away with friends but then ending in illness for me and M!

We started the week in Morpeth, staying in a huge house and 15 minutes to the sea! There were hot tub parties, games nights, egg hunts, crafts, amazing food, so many laughs and a swim in the north sea! I don't think you could get much better! But I did wake up with swollen and very sore eyes which I thought was a reaction to something, but turns out it was the start of a virus that wiped me out with exhaustion. My oldest, M then caught it on Easter Sunday which meant we missed our annual family egg rolling. We all decorate an egg, walk up a hill, roll them down, and have a buffet! πŸ˜‚ It doesn't get much better! But the girls and James went, rolled our eggs for us and M won, so not all lost!

Not a lot of work has been done this week which has felt great actually. I usually find it hard to switch off, but this virus has made sure of that! This week it's getting the hub sorted some more and getting ready for another term!

What are you going to do this week for yourself?

⭐ End of the Spring Term ⭐

A little bit of a slower week/not many photos to share! We've had some exciting hub ideas this week with our first planning meeting taking place which felt so lovely. The community we're creating is something special and I can't wait to see what happens over time as we all grow and learn together.

I also finished in one of my schools this week. I have been there for 7 years as I did all of my training hours there and then my kids started school there before we moved house. It felt like a huge leap taking a step back, but also one that needed to happen. The school is going through a lot of change at the moment and so my last day just felt like leaving on any other day, with no staff acknowledgment. I'd prepared myself for this, but in reality it's still disappointing as I am able to reflect on what a change therapy has had on the school and individual children. But, another sign it's the right time for me. I know work in one school with 2 children which I'll be finishing by the end of this academic year. Schools have always been my stability, so it feels like a big step, but one I'm ready to take.

At home we have slowed down! I'm not sure as a family we know really how to be slow after the last year, so we're taking a conscious effort to implement this! It's been cosy nights watching Saturday night TV, the odd walk by the beach, trying to dodge the wind and rain and always lots of arts and crafts! It's only been a short half term, but it definitely feels like this rest is needed!

⭐ Another Week ⭐

Well this week, and all weeks to be honest, at the moment seem to be flying by! A lovely week with some rearranging of therapy rooms, connecting with other practitioners in the hub and celebrating Mother's Day πŸ’ Oh, and starting a new course...!!

This week reminded me of when I was about 10, and all I ever wanted to do was move my bedroom around and I feel like that's what I've been doing at the hub this week. The rooms are all practical with everything we need, but we felt they were lacking the cosiness we wanted to create so I went on a mission to start creating that. Not fully finished yet, but definitely getting there!

Also at the hub, I connected with the other ladies working there a few times this week which just felt so lovely and special. To be able to share quick snatches of conversations throughout the day, checking in with each other and having a quick laugh is what it's all about. The dream of creating a hub with like-minded people is happening!

I also started a course in Relational Creative Therapies for Young People, through School of PACT. I'm so excited to start this journey and learn even more about working with teens and yp. This was the introduction session online, but for the next 3 months I'll be going to in person weekends as well as completing assignments and case studies. Not sure where I'm finding the time to do that, but it'll be worth it!

And finally, I was celebrated by my kids for mother's day! And I celebrated my mum too! What a gorgeous gift to receive home-made cards and Sloppy kisses and cuddles! Perfect!! And a gift I never take for granted!

⭐ A non stop dancing week! ⭐

The first sunshine of spring, and how gorgeous was it!! Feeling actual heat of my face and having to wear sunglasses was magical, and just what was needed!

This weekend was all about my middle girl, H, and her dance show with LDS Theatre Arts who put on the most incredible showcase! I went to all 3 shows to make sure she knew someone was there and I'm so glad I did, I couldn't have been any prouder of her and all the beautiful dancers and performers. What an experience!

I delivered my first of three training sessions for a local secondary school which I loved and have already received some lovely feedback. Being able to teach simple, regulation techniques which will make a difference is something I'm so passionate about. It doesn't have to be complicated! There were lots of brilliant sessions and meetings which children and families making such huge progress. We're still on the lookout for another play therapist so please do get in touch or pass on to anyone who's local or willing to travel to Morecambe.

I also finished clearing out the last bits in the old hub which holds so many mixed emotions, but they'll be another post on that!!

Have a wonderful week and I hope the sun shines a bit more! β˜€οΈ

Such an important topic! Knowing what level of intervention you can give as a professional is so important, and paramount for the safety and development of the child you're working with. Children who have suffered trauma and various aces, need a clinically trained therapist to help process those experiences. Working with a child when you haven't got a high level of training can be detrimental.

⭐ The week before Christmas ⭐

This week I wasn't in sessions after a crazily busy year and we went away for a few days with family. It felt special to celebrate an early Christmas and to fully enter in to the Christmas spirit.

The weather has also not been too bad, so we've been to the beach, been on a light walk where we toasted the most delicious marshmallows and embraced the colder weather.

As we enter the week of Christmas, remember, your presence is more important that any present! πŸŽ„

⭐ A day in the life ⭐

I thought it would be good to film a day in the life, however my days are so different every day so this is just one version! πŸ˜…

Now that most of the painting and setting up of the new hub is finished, it feels great to have a little bit of time back in the mornings to sort out general life admin, as well as work admin!

What you don't see are the tidy ups in-between sessions, the quick dashes to different places, the phone calls and more often than not, tears from tired little people when I get home! But I hope you enjoy an edited version of my days!!

⭐ Glitter ⭐

Oh how we love a bit of glitter in my playroom!! Glitter is often something grown ups are afraid of, as understandably, it can and frequently, does, go everywhere!!! However, in the playroom there is free range and this week kids have been living for the glitter! It can be used to create pictures, make potions, messy play, and so much more!

A lot of children want to be able to use glitter but struggle with the sensory aspect of it, as it can get everywhere and feel strange on your hands! There's power in this though and children can overcome this over the weeks, which when supported by a therapist is such a magical experience!

⭐ First week of November ⭐

Well, another week has been and gone and it was a week of two halves. The first half was far too busy with what felt like, a million meetings and sessions, but then a complete contrast to that, a weekend away with my mum to one of our favourite places, Whitby.

I like to think that most of the time I'm better at balancing out my weeks now and try to keep strict boundaries to stop myself from burning out by Tuesday evening!! However this week, for some reason, I decided to jam pack it with everything I could, meaning I was exhausted by Tuesday evening! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ However, a little bit more painting was achieved, productive meetings were had a brilliant sessions were started back after half term.

I then travelled across to whitby in the most beautiful, warm weather, walked across the beach, ate fish and chips, saw old friends and slept! So I've finished the week with my little family back at our local beach and ready and restored for a new week!

⭐ Half Term Week ⭐

Well this week went incredibly fast! Not much time to relax but achieved so much in the new hub!

A wicked/Halloween workshop, so much painting, snuggles with my biggest boy, dog walks with a coffee, uni friends with kids and our biggest peer supervision this year and first event in the new space!!

Flipping exhausted and ready for a break...or the start of a new term...!
