🎵 Music We’ve Heard This Week 🎵

I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I truly adore doing this little feature each week.

As someone who loves all genres of music, I feel incredibly privileged to witness the songs that families choose to celebrate their loved ones. Every piece of music played here carries a story, a memory, and a connection that means so much to someone.

Music has a remarkable way of transporting us back to moments in our lives. A single tune can instantly bring back memories — the smell of Wrigley’s Spearmint chewing gum, a spritz of Body Shop Dewberry body spray, the rustle of a River Island carrier bag that somehow became a school bag, or those carefree summer holidays that seemed to last forever. It’s amazing how a song can unlock those feelings in an instant.

Each week I like to listen to the music chosen and see if I can find little threads that connect the songs — sometimes it’s a shared era, sometimes a feeling, and sometimes just the simple reminder of how music weaves through all our lives.

Most of all, these songs are a beautiful reflection of the people being remembered — their personalities, their stories, and the love their families hold for them.

Thank you to all the families who allow us to share these moments through music. It’s a privilege to hear the soundtrack of so many lives and to help honour them here in our community. 💙

Theresa has kicked off our very first Charity Challenge blog here at Lancaster & Morecambe Crematorium. 💙

This year we are taking part in the Bliss 62 Mile Challenge, raising money for Bliss, the UK charity dedicated to supporting babies born premature or sick and the families.

Throughout the challenge we’ll be sharing updates on our progress as we complete the miles and raise funds for this amazing cause.
If you would like to support us, please visit the pinned post at the top of our page where you’ll find details on how to donate.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. 🌿

“Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus i chi, chi griw bendigedig o bobl!” 🌼🏴

We think that’s how you spell it… don’t ask us to pronounce it — our Lancashire accents would probably ruin it! 😄

Whatever the pronunciation, a very Happy St David’s Day to all our Welsh families, friends, neighbours, and the wider community.

And yes, we do have two proud Welsh colleagues in the office, so if we’ve got it wrong, we’re sure we’ll hear about it first thing Monday morning!

From everyone at Lancaster & Morecambe Crematorium, have a brilliant St David’s Day.

As many of you know, we’re about to take on the 62-mile challenge in support of Bliss. I wanted to share a little about why this cause means so much to me personally.

This is my son, Otto. When Otto was born, he was rushed straight to the NICU at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. He was born with spina bifida and needed to stay in the neonatal unit for just over 14 days due to complications.

During our time there, I met so many incredible families. Some parents had been by their babies’ sides for five months or more. Although our stay was relatively short, it was one of the most overwhelming experiences of my life. The strength of those tiny babies and the resilience of their parents is something that will stay with me forever.

You never truly understand how much a charity means until you find yourself relying on one. The support I received during that time made such a difference, and I will always be grateful.

That’s why we’re taking on this challenge — for families like ours, and for the many others who continue to walk that journey every single day.

If you’d like to support us or learn more about the amazing work Bliss does, please keep an eye on our page. Every bit of encouragement means the world.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for supporting us. 💛

💙 Our Challenge for Bliss Neonatal Starts Tomorrow 💙

Every year around 90,000 babies in the UK are born premature or sick and need specialist neonatal care. For many families this means spending days, weeks or even months in hospital while their tiny babies fight to grow stronger.
Bliss Neonatal supports these families through some of the most difficult moments they will ever face. They provide vital support, information and guidance for parents while also working to improve neonatal care for babies across the UK.

Tomorrow marks the start of our challenge and we’re really looking forward to doing our part to help make a difference. We’ll be sharing regular updates along the way, so please follow our journey and cheer us on! 💪
There are lots of ways you can support us:• Follow our page• Like our posts – they really do encourage us! 👍• Share our posts to help spread the word• If you can, please click the link to leave a donation
Every bit of support helps and means a lot to us and to the families supported by Bliss. Thank you for being part of our journey. 💙

Wow… what a week it’s been here at Lancaster & Morecambe Crematorium! 💙

On Monday morning we arrived to find two ducks waiting to greet us — a lovely little start to the week and a reminder of the peaceful surroundings we’re so lucky to have here. 🦆

We’ve also had a couple of our wonderful visitors drop off some shopping for our community food basket. Your kindness really does mean the world to us and to those who need a little extra support. We were absolutely thrilled in the office — thank you so much. 💛

This week on our page we have also:✨ Introduced Andy in our “Meet the Team” post✨ Shared our beautiful Book of Remembrance✨ Reflected on some of the songs we’ve heard during services this week

And we may have even slipped in a cheeky giveaway for one of our new Love Locks! 🔒❤️If you haven’t entered yet, there’s still time — you can enter until the 15th. Just scroll back on our page to find the post.

But the week isn’t over yet…

Tonight we’ll be showing a little appreciation in our chapel for our local funeral directors and celebrants, simply to say thank you for the care, compassion and support they give to families every single day. They truly are incredible people and we’re proud to work alongside them.

We’re also starting our charity mission for the month in aid of Bliss, a wonderful charity supporting premature and sick babies. I’ll be sharing more about that over the weekend. 💜

As always, everyone here at Lancaster & Morecambe Crematorium wishes you a gentle, peaceful weekend.

🎶 Music We’ve Heard This Week at Lancaster & Morecambe Crematorium 🎶

It’s been an iconic American theme for the services this week, with some truly timeless classics chosen to honour loved ones.

We’ve heard:

• Dance the Night Away – The Mavericks
• Saturday Night at the Movies – The Drifters
• American Trilogy – Elvis

From uplifting rhythms that celebrate life and joy, to powerful performances filled with reflection and pride, each piece of music has helped create personal and meaningful moments for the families we’ve supported.

Music has a wonderful way of telling a story, bringing comfort, and capturing treasured memories. Thank you to the families who have shared such special choices with us this week.

💙 Thinking of all those remembering loved ones.
