Moving at the Pace of Trust
Your Kinda Yoga
This week in my yoga classes, we’re exploring moving at the pace of trust.
Not rushing ahead of the body.
Not forcing flexibility, strength, or calm.
But allowing movement to arise only as quickly as it can be felt.
At this time of year, nature doesn’t push.
The soil rests.
Sap moves slowly.
Seeds gather energy beneath the surface.
When we mirror that rhythm, the nervous system softens and the body begins to trust us back.
From an Ayurvedic lens, winter is linked with Vata dosha — light, cold, dry, and changeable.
When Vata is high, we benefit from:
• slowness
• warmth
• steady, simple movements
• repetition rather than novelty
Moving slowly, with awareness, helps anchor Vata and brings us back into a sense of safety and containment.
