Behind every person living with Alzheimer’s is a family member or carer giving so much of themselves. 💚

Caring can be one of the greatest acts of love, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. That is why support for families is so important:

✔️ Accept offers of help. You do not have to do everything alone
✔️ Take regular breaks and consider respite care when you need time to recharge
✔️ Join support groups to share experiences and feel understood
✔️ Look after your own wellbeing just as much as your loved one’s

With the right care and encouragement, families can continue to enjoy meaningful time together, focusing on moments that matter rather than carrying the load alone.

Our Care Professionals are here to help, offering companionship, practical support and specialist dementia care so that you and your loved one feel supported every step of the way. 💚

Eating well plays a big part in living well with dementia 💚

Appetite, tastes and habits can change, but small adjustments can make mealtimes easier and more enjoyable. Try:

- Keeping healthy finger foods like fruit within reach
- Using plain, coloured plates so food stands out clearly
- Serving meals in a calm, quiet space without distractions
- Encouraging a balanced diet with fruit, vegetables, protein and carbohydrates
- Making sure drinks are offered often to prevent dehydration

Good nutrition supports both body and mind. With a little extra thought, mealtimes can remain a positive and comforting part of the day.

It’s National Eye Health Week 👀

Many people think eyesight simply fades with age, but that’s not the full story. Regular check-ups can detect common conditions like glaucoma before they cause lasting damage, giving the best chance to protect vision for longer.

Good eyesight means more independence, safety and enjoyment of everyday life, from reading and hobbies to moving around confidently at home.

A gentle reminder this week: booking an eye test is one of the simplest ways to look after yourself or a loved one. 💚

It’s Falls Prevention Week 💚

Falls are one of the leading causes of injury for older adults, but many can be prevented with small changes at home.

Clear walkways, secure or remove loose rugs, improve lighting, and make sure furniture leaves plenty of space to move around safely. These simple steps can make home a safer place for your loved ones.

Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia, accounting for around 6 in 10 cases in the UK.

It affects memory, reasoning and daily life over time — but dementia and Alzheimer’s aren’t the same thing. Dementia is the umbrella term, while Alzheimer’s is one type within it.

🧠 Common early signs include forgetfulness, confusion, mood changes and difficulty with familiar tasks.
👵 Over 900,000 people in the UK are living with dementia today, a number set to rise to 1.6 million by 2040.

Raising awareness is the first step to understanding and supporting those living with the condition 💚

Stay tuned this month as we share more helpful posts on living well with Alzheimer’s, advice for families and carers, and everyday steps that support brain health.
