Last week we had the pleasure of visiting The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre 🐴. The lovely Molly and her team gave us a wonderful guided tour and introduced us to the horses. We watched one being exercised in the indoor arena, had a go at grooming, and of course enjoyed plenty of petting and cuddles! 💖
We rounded off the day with a cuppa and biscuits ☕🍪. A huge thank you to everyone at The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre for looking after us so well, we had the best time! ✨

This shortlisting is such a recognition of the kindness, creativity and commitment shown every single day across our homes.
We love hearing feedback from families and residents about their experience with us - and this recent message from the daughter of a resident who stayed at Ashton Manor for respite care meant so much to the whole team:
“Ashton Manor is absolutely beautiful. My mum went in for respite, and the care she received was second to none. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for her - and they looked after us as a family too.
Her room was spacious and spotless, with a large en-suite wet room. There was always something going on - the entertainment was great, and the food was not only delicious, it was beautifully presented. The chef really paid attention to what everyone liked (and didn’t).
Mum especially loved the afternoon tea and cake with her favourite drink - those thoughtful little moments meant so much.
But what really stuck with me? My mum was very particular about how she liked her tea… and that’s exactly how she got it.

Something magical has been happening at Ashton Manor Care Home…
What started with a few gifted garden gnomes has turned into a joyful project that’s captured everyone’s imagination!
After a little TLC (and what some of our residents called a "facelift"), the seven gnomes became the founding residents of Gnomesville Retirement Village. Since then, our residents have been busy dreaming up stories, designing miniature homes, and even writing articles for the Gnomesville Gazette!
There’s Rodney the fisherman, Winston the toadstool expert… and plenty more colourful characters joining the village by the day.
The project has brought so much laughter, creativity and connection – and even caught the attention of the Lancaster Guardian.
As one resident beautifully put it:
“Gnomesville isn’t just a village – it’s a tiny, special world built on big imagination.”

🌟 THE CHASE at Ashton Manor! 🌟
Yesterday afternoon was full of fun, laughter, and a bit of brainpower as our residents took on THE CHASE in the garden! 🧠✨
Staff went head-to-head with our residents in a lively quiz, and there were moments where the residents outsmarted the chaser 👏
The sun was shining, spirits were high, and it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon together. Thank you to everyone who made it such a special event! 💚🌿

🛍️ PWS Pop-Up Shop is Back at Ashton Manor! ☀️
We’re excited to welcome PWS back to Ashton Manor on Wednesday, 28th May, with their brand new summer clothing range! 👗👕🩳
Last October’s visit was a huge hit with our residents, they absolutely loved the chance to browse and shop right here at home. This time, the pop-up shop will be set up in the Tearoom from 1pm to 4pm. 🌸
It’s a wonderful opportunity for residents to pick out something new and stylish for the summer! 💛

What a lovely day we’ve had at Ashton Manor! Some of our wonderful residents and staff took a stroll through the nearby woods, soaking in the beauty of nature, fresh air, and each other’s company.
Laughter echoed through the trees, stories were shared, and creating beautiful memories along the way.

A Heartwarming Visit from Animal Care 🐾
We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Steph Weber from Animal Care to Ashton Manor yesterday. Steph delivered a truly touching presentation, sharing the incredible work their team does to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. 🐾
Our residents were deeply touched by the inspiring journey of the animals, how they were found, the love and care they received, and how they eventually found safe, happy homes. 💖
The session ended with an engaging Q&A, where our residents had the chance to ask thoughtful questions and learn even more. One of the highlights of the visit was meeting Maggi, who was an absolute sweetheart, calm, gentle, and happily soaking up all the love and strokes from our residents. 🐕💕
Thank you, Steph and Animal Care, for such a meaningful and inspiring visit. We truly appreciate the work you do and look forward to welcoming you again! 🐾❤️

We are now welcoming residents to Ashton Manor, our beautiful new state-of-the-art care home in Lancaster. Ashton Manor offers a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment for our residents, and we pride ourselves on giving each individual the exceptional person-centred care they deserve.
Every part of the home has been designed with our residents’ experience at the heart. Spacious bedrooms over three communities include specially designed day rooms and lounge areas, upper-floor terraces, a tearoom, internal courtyard, hairdressing salon, library and cinema room, meaning our residents feel truly at home here.
Our residents and their families also benefit from the latest in care technology including electronic security, assistive technology, the latest in infection control laundry and high-specification assisted bathrooms, as well as Wi-Fi throughout for video calling to help people to stay in contact with loved ones remotely.
Our residents may come to Ashton Manor because they are feeling isolated and in need of a supportive community, or because they have more specialist care requirements, but whatever an individual’s circumstances, our highly qualified and dedicated team are passionate about catering for each person’s needs and ensuring they are happy in their new home.
Ashton Manor is the first care home to operate under the Evermore name, but the team behind our home is well-known in the healthcare sector, having provided recovery-focused mental health services and independent home care in Preston for over 15 years.
