Shetland Ponies Bring a Little Christmas Magic to Ashton Manor Care Home 🐴🎄
We had some very special visitors at Ashton Manor Care Home today, as Shetland ponies from Morecambe Bay Equestrian Centre C. I. C came to spend time with our residents.
The ponies were calm, gentle and very well behaved, and residents loved stroking them, chatting with their handlers and simply enjoying having them in the home. For some, it brought back memories of horses and countryside life; for others, it was just a lovely, unexpected moment to enjoy together.
A big thank you to the team at Morecambe Bay Equestrian Centre for making today such a calm and enjoyable visit for everyone. 🐴✨

🎄 Elf Day at Ashton Manor Care Home 🎄
Today, our wonderful Ashton Manor team got well and truly into the festive spirit as we celebrated Elf Day – a national initiative raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity close to the hearts of so many of our families and colleagues.
Residents and colleagues took part in an elf sweepstake, guess the name of the elf, and fun word games finding words that include “elf” - a brilliant way to keep minds active (and more challenging that one may think).
We were joined by a whole cast of elves as colleagues dressed up for the occasion, each bringing their own bit of Christmas magic. The afternoon ended with a mini parade to crown our Best Dressed Elf.
Of course, no festive celebration is complete without a treat… so we enjoyed peppermint cupcakes and a cheeky Baileys hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows. The smiles in the photos say it all.
✨ And we’re not done yet!
We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our Christmas Fayre this Saturday, 6th December, between 1pm - 4pm - a lovely chance to come together, enjoy seasonal stalls and celebrate the run-up to Christmas.

You may have seen our recent post about a curious squirrel who popped by for a visit... well, we couldn’t leave out this gorgeous little robin who is a regular guest in our garden!

This curious squirrel was spotted recently searching for acorns, much to the delight of our residents. It's always a treat to see nature up close!
Our garden isn't just a peaceful space to relax - it's also a haven for all sorts of wonderful wildlife. 🌸🦋

Last week we had the pleasure of visiting The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre 🐴. The lovely Molly and her team gave us a wonderful guided tour and introduced us to the horses. We watched one being exercised in the indoor arena, had a go at grooming, and of course enjoyed plenty of petting and cuddles! 💖
We rounded off the day with a cuppa and biscuits ☕🍪. A huge thank you to everyone at The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre for looking after us so well, we had the best time! ✨

We love hearing feedback from families and residents about their experience with us - and this recent message from the daughter of a resident who stayed at Ashton Manor for respite care meant so much to the whole team:
“Ashton Manor is absolutely beautiful. My mum went in for respite, and the care she received was second to none. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for her - and they looked after us as a family too.
Her room was spacious and spotless, with a large en-suite wet room. There was always something going on - the entertainment was great, and the food was not only delicious, it was beautifully presented. The chef really paid attention to what everyone liked (and didn’t).
Mum especially loved the afternoon tea and cake with her favourite drink - those thoughtful little moments meant so much.
But what really stuck with me? My mum was very particular about how she liked her tea… and that’s exactly how she got it.

Every part of the home has been designed with our residents’ experience at the heart. Spacious bedrooms over three communities include specially designed day rooms and lounge areas, upper-floor terraces, a tearoom, internal courtyard, hairdressing salon, library and cinema room, meaning our residents feel truly at home here.
Our residents and their families also benefit from the latest in care technology including electronic security, assistive technology, the latest in infection control laundry and high-specification assisted bathrooms, as well as Wi-Fi throughout for video calling to help people to stay in contact with loved ones remotely.
