Good afternoon,
We are aware that the current situation may be having an impact on your mental wellbeing, so we wanted to reach out to students and offer some tips! It is important to keep tabs on your mental health and remember that you are entitled to support at ANY time. You may find this useful:
• Your pace of work will likely change whilst at home. It can be a struggle to motivate yourself and you may have other priorities. If you have not completed as much as you wanted, do not place blame on yourself. It is healthy to have time to yourself if you feel drained, on some days, little achievements will be more than enough. On the contrary, you may find yourself achieving lots! If this is the case, keep taking regular breaks as you would at university. Avoid work burnout by doing a little at a time.
• Evidence shows that structure and routine support mental wellbeing. It may be beneficial to plan your routine for the week ahead, or set an achievement of your choice for each day.
• Stay informed with the ongoing situation, but do not overconsume negative information.
• Prepare for a good sleep each night e.g. minimising caffeine/ alcohol consumption and TV bingeing late at night.
• Understand that what you are feeling is okay. Your mental health struggles are a normal response to a difficult situation and it is likely that many of us will begin to feel more anxious and stressed. Try to be mindful of what you are doing and how you are looking after yourself.
• Be kind to yourself and others
