💚 THANK YOU THURSDAY 💚
First up this week, our new Events & Corporate Fundraiser Hannah recently popped in to Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium after their generous £5,000 donation to the hospice from their Metal Recycling Scheme. Thank you for your support, this donation will go a long way to help patients and their families in our local community.
A big thank you to supporter Marie Gordon for nominating St John’s as her chosen charity for a recent sausage competition at Dales Traditional Butchers Ltd – Marie came up with a recipe for the local butchers to make, and they sold various recipes for a period of time & the most sausages sold won! Dales Butchers donated £2 per KG for every recipe sold, with Marie’s amounting to £45 & Dales added the first prize of £100 to that to make it up to £145 – what a banger!!!
We would like to send a BIG thank you to long-standing supporters Richard and Caroline from the The Silverdale Hotel who held an amazing Real Ale and Music Festival over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. We would also like to thank Marstons Brewery for their match funding. In total they raised £1094.10 💚🍺
We had a lovely coffee morning at St Andrew’s Church in Sedbergh last week – in fact it was a full house as the Sedbergh community came out to show their support. As you can see, we had plenty of cakes to enjoy and we raised a fabulous £432.35 towards our patient care. A big thank you to the amazing volunteers who helped the morning run smoothly with the expertise. ☕
We were invited by our wonderful supporter, Amanda to be the charity to support at a lovely Christmas market at Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Union Football Club. There were lots of fantastic local businesses and crafters kicking off the Christmas market season. Our Christmas cards were very popular, and we raised £226.40 on the night – thank you to everyone that we met on the night, for your support and the lovely conversations about supporting us in the future, and to our lovely volunteer Wendy who helped on the night. 💚
In a busy week for coffee mornings, we also hosted one at Staveley Village Association on Saturday. Our Christmas cards were very popular again, and although the weather was still a little wild, we had a great turn out; raising £670.96. We made further connections in the Staveley community and had lots of chats with the regulars. A huge thank you to the regular volunteers who run the show like clockwork, our extra volunteers, and one of our Ambassadors, David who came along on the day. 🍰
Last weekend, the 15th November, was the annual Storth coffee morning and jumble sale. The event was arranged by Derek and Barbara Holdsworth but the whole village rallied around with more than 160 visitors. The event was a huge success with an astounding £3879.29 raised for St John's Hospice. A HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed to this outstanding achievement - all the volunteers, cake bakers and those who donated items for the sale. This really is a tremendous example of community support which the whole village of Storth can be so proud of. 💚
