St John's Hospice

St John's Hospice St John's Hospice is a charity. All of our care, compassion and support is offered free of charge to patients and their families or carers.
(380)

St John’s Hospice provides care, compassion and support for patients with life shortening illnesses across the South Lakes, North Lancashire and parts of North Yorkshire. Our care however is not cost free, around a quarter of our funding is from the government and the remaining three-quarters is raised by people like you in our local community. This is why St John's fundraises throughout the year with events, the St John's lottery, monthly giving schemes, wills and our shops so we can be there for one of the most difficult times in people’s lives. Our services include an inpatient ward for end-of-life care as well as pain and symptom management, a Hospice at Home service for people who choose to spend their last time at home and need our support, Clinical Nurse Specialists who support people with planning and pain & symptom management, and a Respite Service for carers of loved ones who need respite time during the day or night. St John's also offers pre and post bereavement support plus other services you may not associate with a Hospice such as Social Workers and Therapists.

💚Thank You Thursday💚

🐮Last week we braved the wet weather and had a wonderful time at Westmorland County Show & Agricultural Society. Thank you to everyone that visited our stall - including Lizzi Collinge MP! We had some lovely interactions with our local farming community and beyond, and with your support we raised £441.27.

🎂Last month, friends and neighbours in Caton came together for a wonderful afternoon, enjoying a delicious cream tea served by Caton Methodist Chapel. In total, £470 was raised. Thank you for supporting St John's Hospice.

🫶Last week, we visited Heversham and Leasgill Women's Insitute to share a presentation on the work of St John's Hospice. Thank you to the group for their hospitality and their kind donation of £79.90.

We're delighted to announce that our recent Last Night of the Proms event raised an incredible £9122.53 for local hospice care!

A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible - our wonderful St John's Hospice Choir, the fabulous Pilling Jubilee Silver Band, accompanist Angela Potter and organist David Tattersall for providing entertainment on the night. To Richard and his team for their support with sound and lighting. Our wonderful team of volunteers without whom these events simply could not run. And finally, thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event 💚
