A significant build-up of wax causes a blockage, where this happens, it can cause pain, itchiness and even hearing loss and may need removing. If it causes reduced, or even complete loss of hearing then the removal of the compacted wax can restore your hearing to it's level prior to the blockage, making a real difference to your life. Where a large build-up causes serious discomfort, itchiness or even pain that feeling can be removed by clearing the blockage, bringing great relief straight away.

If you think you may have an excess of wax and are experiencing any of these unpleasant symptoms you can book in for ear wax removal today for microsuction on 0152 458 7623 or via our website.

Did you know this fact?
The ear pressure in the middle ear is generally the same as the pressure outside of the body. The Eustachian tube, which connects the middle ear and the back of the nose and upper throat, helps equalise air pressure on both sides of the ear drum. By swallowing or yawning the tube opens up and allows air to flow into or out of the middle ear, this relieves the pressure. You might be familiar with this when your ears "pop" on an aeroplane.

It's important to take care of your hearing aids, proper maintenance extends the life of them and ensures clear, consistent sound quality. Ear wax is actually a common cause for repairs, when it builds up in hearing aids it can damage specific components. Because of how hearing aids fit in the ear they tend to block earwax from naturally migrating out.

To help prevent any issues from ear wax you should wipe your hearing aids every morning with a dry cloth, careful not to wipe any debris onto the microphone ports. It also can be beneficial to have microsuction to remove excess wax built up in the ear canals. As part of your care package with your hearing aids we include free microsuction every 6 months if you are to need it.

When hearing loss goes untreated, everyday situations can start to feel tiring or frustrating. Straining to hear can take energy and focus, leaving you feeling drained by the end of the day. Hearing aids are designed to reduce that effort, making listening feel more natural and comfortable.

Better hearing can have a positive impact on more than just sound. It can help you feel more confident in social situations, stay connected with friends and family, and take part in conversations without worrying about missing important details.

Do you think you might have hearing loss? Book your hearing assessment today on our website or on 0152 458 7623.

Today is World Health Day, created by the World Health Organization. Under the theme “Together for science”, this year’s observance launches a year‑long campaign celebrating the power of scientific collaboration to protect the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet.

As your local audiologist we'd like to encourage you to think about the health of your ears. The impacts of hearing loss are broad and can be profound. They include a loss of the ability to communicate with others, delayed language development in children, which can lead to social isolation, loneliness and frustration, particularly among older people with hearing loss.

If you're due a hearing test or need ear wax removal you can book in with us on 0152 458 7623 or via our website.

Hearing aids are programmed for your individual needs. The aim is to amplify quiet sounds you would normally struggle to hear but not amplify the loud noises that you have no troubles with. As long your hearing aids are programmed correctly by the audiologist, the amplification should cause zero damage to your hearing.

Another thing to consider is that most people experience changes to their hearing in both ears, but some people buy only one hearing aid due to the cost, which can mean the other ear overcompensates and deteriorates as a result. We always check both ears to guarantee we provide a balanced solution for you and your ears.

If you're interested in learning more about how hearing aids can benefit your life visit our website to read more, or book an appointment for a hearing assessment to discuss your options with our audiologist. You can book with us on 0152 458 7623 or via our website.

Communicating effectively with people with hearing loss is so important, here's a top tip to help.

Be careful not to over exaggerate your lip movements, facial expressions and gestures. Excessive lip movements and facial expressions can make it difficult to lip read and gestures can be distracting, only making it harder to understand.

If you're struggling with hearing loss yourself you can book in with us for a hearing assessment on 0152 458 1288 or via our website.
