It is completely compatible with orthodox Western medical knowledge and serves to integrate all parts of our self for balance and ease. AT isn't a "quick fix" or a passive therapy: it asks for your attention and chosen participation. In this way, it's something you learn to do and make your own. That's why, in the biggest back pain trial ever conducted, AT came out better than traditional medical treatment or massage, still having positive effects one year on from a course of 6 lessons. It is best known for back and neck problems, RSI and chronic physical problems. What is less well known is that is excellent for anxiety, stress and any emotional disorders. That's because body and mind are inseparable: every thought we have has a physical reaction and physical conditions affect or mental health. It isn't hard to learn and it helps us feel great! You don't have to have aches and pains to come for a lesson, AT enhances performance in sports, acting, public speaking/presentations and music. It even helps with mental clarity and insight into behavioural habits. It opens up the possibility for change, even for quite entrenched patterns. I am fully committed to challenging racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, transphobia, ableism and all forms of prejudice in my work and life. But if you take the opportunity to look at yourself, to rethink life and death, to take care of yourself and others, then you will walk through the portal.
Take care of your home, take care of your body. Connect with your spiritual home. When you take care of yourself, you take care of everyone at the same time.
Do not underestimate the spiritual dimension of this crisis. Take the perspective of an eagle that sees everything from above with a broader view. There is a social question in this crisis, but also a spiritual question. The two go hand in hand.
Without the social dimension we fall into fanaticism.
Without the spiritual dimension, we fall into pessimism and futility.
Are you ready to face this crisis? Grab your toolbox and use all the tools at your disposal.
Learn resistance from the example of Indian and African peoples: we have been and are exterminated. But we never stopped singing, dancing, lighting a fire and rejoicing.
Don't feel guilty for feeling blessed in these troubled times.
Being sad or angry doesn't help at all. Resistance is resistance through joy!
You have the right to be strong and positive. And there's no other way to do it than to maintain a beautiful, happy, bright posture.
Has nothing to do with alienation (ignorance of the world).
It's a resistance strategy.
When we cross the threshold, we have a new worldview because we faced our fears and difficulties. This is all you can do now:
- Serenity in the storm
- Keep calm, pray everyday
- Make a habit of meeting the sacred everyday.
Show resistance through art, joy, trust and love.

Our Story

I don't think the description "alternative health" fits AT but there was no other relevant category available. The truth is there are just things that work and you will be the judge of that! The Alexander Technique isn't alternative in any way. It is completely compatible with orthodox Western medical knowledge and works by teaching you to use your bodymind in the way it is meant to work. People tend to come to AT when they've tried every other option with no success. I suspect that's because AT isn't a "quick fix". It demands your attention and participation. In this way it isn't a "therapy". It isn't something you have done to you - it's something you learn and make your own. That's why in the biggest back pain trial ever conducted, AT came out better than traditional treatment or massage, still having positive effects a year after participants had a course of 6 lessons. It is best known for back and neck problems, RSI and chronic physical problems. What is less well known is that is excellent for anxiety, stress and any emotional disorders. That's because it works on the whole system, as body and mind are inseparable. It isn't hard to learn and it feels great!
