✨ Good luck to Hollie and lovely Leo as they head off to compete at the Home Nations Youth Dressage Championship this weekend! 🐴💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Leo had a pre-competition sports massage today to help him feel his absolute best and move with ease and suppleness in the arena. Massage is a fantastic way to support performance, helping to release tension, promote circulation, and keep muscles functioning at their best. 💆‍♂️🦴

Wishing this fabulous pair a successful and enjoyable weekend – we’ll be cheering you on! 🍀🏅

Why Do I Stretch Your Horse During a Session⁉️

Stretching is a key part of many of my sports massage sessions, and it’s far more than just a feel good extra! I use targeted stretches tailored to each individual horse, based on what I find during the massage and how their body is responding✨

But why is stretching so important⁉️

✅ Improves Flexibility & Range of Motion
- helping your horse move more freely with less restriction
✅ Releases Residual Tension
- especially in areas that hold tightness from work, compensation, or poor posture
✅ Promotes Better Body Awareness & Balance
- supporting coordination & straightness
✅ Encourages Relaxation
- stretching activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping your horse unwind
✅ Supports Injury Prevention
- by keeping muscles and joints supple

Stretching works best AFTER the body has been warmed up or massaged, when the muscles are more pliable and responsive💪

Every horse is different, so I choose stretches based on what’s going to support that horse’s individual needs - whether that’s unlocking shoulder tension, encouraging pelvic mobility, or simply helping them let go of stiffness🙆‍♀️

⁉️Why Choose Equine Sports Massage⁉️

A question I often get asked and how is it different from other forms of bodywork?

Sports Massage is one of the most effective, non-invasive ways to support your horses physical and mental wellbeing, whether they’re in regular work, retired, or somewhere in between✨

So what makes sports massage such a valuable part of your horses routine?
💥It targets the soft tissue, muscles, fascia, and connective tissues that are directly responsible for movement, strength, flexibility, and comfort💪
💥It helps identify and release tension before they develop into bigger issues🔍
💥It promotes relaxation and can have huge benefits for horses who hold emotional and physical tension in their body🧘‍♀️

So how is it different from other forms of bodywork? Each therapy has its own focus:
✅Physiotherapy often works on rehab, strengthening, and mobilisation. Great for injury recovery or long term conditions🧑‍⚕️
✅Chiropractic targets spinal alignment and joint mobility, particularly helpful for horses with skeletal restrictions🧑‍⚕️
✅Massage Therapy works through the muscular system to improve movement, relieve tightness, and support overall balance and performance🧑‍⚕️

These therapies don’t compete, they complement🤝

If your curious about how Sports Massage could fit into your horses routine, I’m always happy to chat through what’s involved and tailor a session to suit your horses individual needs🦄

Interesting afternoon of CPD completed ✅

Did you know massage therapy can support horses with laminitis? A condition we see all too often, especially as we head into the summer months🌱

While massage doesn’t treat the laminitis itself, it can be a valuable part of the management and recovery process❤️‍🩹 Laminitis doesn’t just affect the feet, it often causes significant strain in the neck, shoulders, back, and hindquarters as the horses attempts to take pressure off the painful areas🤕

Massage offers gentle, targeted support to help these horses stay as comfortable and mobile as possible during their recovery journey💪

If your horse is prone to laminitis, or currently recovering, feel free to get in touch, I’m always happy to discuss how soft tissue therapy can complement your care plan🫶🏻

🌟Why Equine Massage is a Game Changer for Competition Horses🌟

Whether your you’re heading out for a dressage test, performing in the show ring, flying over XC fences, or jumping a course of show jumps, your horse’s body is working hard - and here’s how you can support them before and after to make all the difference✨

Pre-Competition Massage 💆‍♀️
A targeted session before an event can:

🔹Loosen tight muscles and improve flexibility🏃‍♂️

🔹Increase circulation and warm up the body more effectively🔥

🔹Help your horse move more freely and comfortably🐎

🔹Support focus and reduce tension, especially in sensitive or sharp horses👌🏼

Post-Competition Massage 💆‍♀️
After a big effort, a recovery massage can:

🔹Relieve muscle soreness or tightness form hard work❤️‍🩹

🔹Support quicker recovery by improving circulation and lymphatic drainage🌀

🔹Prevent small strains from turning into bigger issues🩹

🔹Help your horse relax mentally and physically after a demanding day🧘🏻‍♂️

Whether you compete regularly or just occasionally, adding massage into your routine can help your horse stay sound, supple, and happy in their work 💖

I offer tailored massage pre and post event sessions for regular competitors🏋

I you’d like to give your horse that extra edge (and some well earned TLC), drop me a message to book or ask questions! 🤩
