📢 Reminder about parking enforcement in place at Caton Health Centre.

Our car parks have very limited spaces and are reserved strictly for patients attending appointments. In the past, we experienced significant problems with members of the public parking on site and leaving vehicles for extended periods, which prevented patients from accessing care. As a result, the practice had to put a formal parking management system in place.

Therefore, when attending the practice, patients must enter their car registration on arrival, failure to do so will result in a parking charge notice being issued.

Parking Charge Notices are issued directly by the parking company, not by the practice, we are therefore not obliged to cancel or appeal on behalf of patients. Any appeals should be made directly to the parking company, using the details on the notice.

The parking system is in place to protect patient access to the practice.
It is not intended to unfairly impact our patients, but it does rely on all users following the instructions provided on site.

🚨 Exceptional demand seen across our local NHS services

Due to high levels of demand for NHS services, measures are being put in place to reduce pressures, and we are asking for the public’s support.

Alongside the current severe cold weather, we are seeing very high numbers of people with flu and winter illnesses.

The Met Office forecasts the cold spell to continue until Friday 9 January, so we expect these pressures to continue.

Please help us help you:

âś… Use A&E only for serious or life-threatening emergencies.
âś… If a loved one is ready to leave hospital, collect them as soon as possible and make sure they have what they need at home.
✅ If you do need A&E, you may experience a wait. Our teams will see the most seriously ill patients first—please treat staff with respect.

If you have to visit A&E, due to a serious accident or emergency that is life threatening, please make sure you are prepared for a potential wait by taking things you may need like a charged phone, a payment method and warm, comfortable clothing. We apologise if you experience a longer wait.

Please use health services wisely. Accessing the right service at the right time may mean you’re seen quicker and helps reduce pressure.

Please share this message.

Thank you to our incredible NHS teams and partners working tirelessly across hospitals, community services and the region.

Chief Commissioning Officer
Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB

MMRV is now part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme, replacing the MMR vaccine.

It protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.

Chickenpox is very common and can sometimes lead to serious complications, so vaccination helps reduce the risk of serious illness as children grow.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will be in touch when your child is due.

Flu cases across the UK are at the highest ever for this time of year.
It isn't too late to book your flu vaccine, contact us today to ensure you're protected over the festive season.

Flu cases in hospitals are the highest ever for this time of year.

But there are things you can do to help, like getting vaccinated, if eligible, and taking steps to protect older and more vulnerable family members.

More than 18 million people have already had a flu vaccine this season.

Flu vaccines don’t stop everyone from catching flu, but they do reduce the risk of becoming seriously unwell, needing hospital care or developing complications – especially for older adults and those with health conditions.

If you’re eligible and haven’t had yours yet, it’s not too late to get protected.
