The Jonathon Pearson Award

We were incredibly proud to present the first ever annual Jonathon Pearson Award for Self-Advocacy to graduate, Daniel.

This special award was created by Jonathon’s family in his memory, honouring his legacy as a proud Beaumont College graduate and a much-loved member of the local community. Jonathon was a passionate advocate for inclusion, independence, and the rights of disabled people.

This award recognises students who carry forward those same values, and Daniel has done just that - showing strength, confidence, and a powerful voice in shaping their own journey. A truly deserving first recipient.

As another academic year comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on the incredible achievements of our students across all campuses. From personal development goals and work placements to creative projects, performances, and community involvement—every learner has had their own unique journey to be proud of.

This week, all of that hard work, growth, and resilience culminates in Graduation—a chance for us to come together, celebrate success, and look forward to the bright futures ahead.

A huge well done to every student. You’ve inspired us all with your determination, creativity and spirit.

Here’s to everything you’ve achieved—and everything still to come.

🦁 Personal Development Trip to Blackpool Zoo 🦕

As part of their Personal Development sessions, students have been working towards their individual learning intentions — and on Friday, they had the chance to put their skills into practice during a visit to Blackpool Zoo !

Students explored the zoo using maps to recognise symbols, identified a range of animals, and engaged in meaningful, spontaneous communication throughout the day. The trip provided rich sensory experiences — from the sights and sounds to the unique smells of the animals — as well as valuable opportunities for social interaction.

Highlights included the roaring success of the Dinosaur Safari and the unforgettable vocalisations of the sea lions!

🏅 Festival Week Fun – Sports Day & Colour Dash! 🎉

As part of our Festival Week celebrations, students took part in a fantastic Sports Day filled with energy, encouragement, and team spirit! From races and relays to group challenges, everyone gave it their all and cheered each other on every step of the way.

The day ended on a high with our annual Colour Dash – a joyful, rainbow-filled run that brought students and staff together in a celebration of fun, community, and pure joy.

What a way to wrap up an amazing week of activities!

🎨 Summer Festival at Beaumont College Lancaster 🎨

Our Lancaster day students have been showcasing their creativity and talent as part of Festival Week — and what an inspiring exhibition it’s been!

We were especially thrilled to welcome James’s family into college to see his artwork on display. It was a fantastic opportunity to take them behind the scenes and share some of the thinking, choices, and decisions that went into creating his piece.

A huge congratulations to our amazing students at Beaumont College South Lakes!
Together, they’ve raised an incredible £311.50 in support of Sandside Lodge School School’s café developments.

The fundraising took place at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre in Lancaster, where 8 students took part in a sponsored swim — swimming for an impressive 1 hour and 30 minutes!

This fantastic effort shows the power of community, teamwork, and kindness — and we couldn’t be prouder!

Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and helped make this possible.

🎧 A High-Tech Sound Adventure in Nature! 🌿🌊

Students from our South Lakes campus recently enjoyed an unforgettable Sound Walk experience led by Dan Fox of Sound Intervention , in partnership with Jo Sayers from Morecambe Bay Partnership .

Dan – a sound artist, musician, film-maker and installation creator based in Ulverston – guided the group through the beautiful surroundings of Conishead Priory Woods and Beach. Using specialist audio equipment, students were able to explore the hidden soundscape of nature: from the creaking of trees and the movements of underground insects, to the aquatic life beneath the surface.

With wireless headsets and high-sensitivity microphones – including contact, hydroponic, underground, and parabolic mics – students tuned into a world of sounds not usually audible to the human ear.

The interactive session ended with students experimenting and creating their own sounds for others to hear – a fun, engaging and immersive experience for all involved!

🌞🎪 BeauFest is coming to South Lakes! 🎶🎉

We’re excited to announce that Beaumont College South Lakes will be hosting our first ever Summer Festival – BeauFest!

Join us for a day of summer fun as we bring together our College community, families, friends, and local residents. Everyone is welcome!

The event will be officially opened by the Mayoress of Ulverston at 12 noon – don’t miss it!

🌿 Sensory Gardening at Beaumont College Lancaster 🌿

Our garden group made the most of a hot and humid day this week by setting up their tent den and getting stuck into some important sensory gardening tasks.

After clearing litter and pulling up weeds to keep our wildlife habitats safe and clean, the group explored the use of reusable water balls (or “water bombs”!) — taking turns to throw them onto the path and enjoying the visual and sound effects they created.

A brilliant blend of teamwork, environmental care, and sensory fun! 💧💚
