🎉 A Huge Congratulations to Nicole at Beaumont College Carlisle!

In Cooking today, Nicole proudly completed her Accreditation in Hospitality and Catering. Her smile says it all — she has worked incredibly hard to achieve this milestone.

Nicole has shown fantastic skills, from understanding kitchen safety to confidently serving a meal. She has also been practising using timers and weighing scales to support her independence in the kitchen.

We are so proud of her dedication and progress. Well done, Nicole!

ATL in the Community

Connie who follows our Access to Learning Pathway headed out to Abakhan in Preston to find the perfect fabric to complete a Belle (Beauty and the Beast) dress.

As well as choosing the right material to finish the dress, Connie got hands-on experience in the shop helping to roll out fabric for measuring and returning materials neatly to the shelves.

Trips like this are a great way to build real-life skills, including money handling and communication, while working towards a creative goal.

Earth Day 2026 – Beaumont College South Lakes

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd. This year's theme is 'Our Power, Our Planet'.

Earth Day organisers hope that the theme can inspire participants to continue working towards a better planet all year round, and that community and collaboration are needed for change. For more than 55 years, Earth Day has existed to raise awareness of environmentalism and some of the troubles facing the globe as well as the opportunities.

Students from Beaumont College South Lakes supported Earth Day 2026 through activities in their Arts Award and Personal & Social Development sessions. They produced artwork, window displays and ideas for helping the Earth.

The concept of Earth Day also reinforces the wider curriculum in college, through subjects such as Horticulture, British Values, Environmental Studies and the John Muir Award for Conservation.

Our Lancaster Outdoor Adventure group took on Latrigg in Keswick this week.

William and Daniel led the way and kept everyone moving at a great pace. It was a windy one at the summit, so they tucked down by the side of the path for a well‑earned lunch.

A brilliant day out for everyone involved.

The students at our Skippool campus have been busy building something special - their own tuck shop. Through this project, they’ve been practising turn‑taking, greeting customers, and developing their understanding of money values. It’s been a fantastic hands‑on learning experience.

April is World Autism Acceptance Month, a time to celebrate neurodiversity and embrace the many ways people experience and interact with the world.

Autistic voices, talents, and perspectives enrich our communities every day. Acceptance isn’t just awareness - it’s listening, learning, supporting, and valuing people for who they are.

Let’s choose understanding over assumptions and inclusion over barriers.

Coniston To Barrow Training Profile - Rosie

⌚🚶‍♀️Rosie Talbot (Deputy Lead Tutor at Beaumont College South Lakes) just completed 8 miles in training! 💪 Working in SEN education, she witnesses the impact of epilepsy every day. She is in training for the Coniston to Barrow walk to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and keep moving forward. Epilepsy doesn’t stop—and neither is she. 🟣

💷 £50 could help forward our world-leading research projects, leading to more accurate, personalised treatment.

💷£20 could help to ensure that someone who desperately needs to talk about their epilepsy can call our helpline.

💷£60 could prepare tissue samples for microscopic analysis, aimed at reducing Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP)

💷£75 could pay for lab equipment such as PCR tubes which are essential for DNA extraction and analysis from our donated blood samples. This DNA can be stored and analysed in multiple research studies.

💷 £100 could pay for advanced analysis of five people’s genomic data, helping us uncover genetic risk factors for different types of epilepsy to better tailor treatments with the aim of controlling seizures and transforming lives.

🌟 A Day of Firsts for Our Lancaster Students! 🌟

What an exciting day for students in their fitness class!

🚴‍♀️ Sarah took a huge step and tried out two wheels for the very first time at Salt Ayre. Her determination was incredible, and we couldn’t be prouder of her progress.

⛳ Adam also hit a milestone, giving putting a go at Heysham Golf Club. He showed great focus and had a fantastic time learning something new.

These moments are exactly what our sessions are all about: confidence, growth, and celebrating every achievement, big or small. Well done, both of you - we can’t wait to see what you try next!

🌿 Skippool Students Earn Their RSPB Wild Challenge Bronze Award!
Our amazing Skippool students have been working hard each week towards their RSPB Wild Challenge Bronze Award — and we’re thrilled to share that they’ve achieved it!

They’ve been choosing their own activities from the Wild Challenge website and submitting evidence for six completed challenges. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity about the natural world have been brilliant to see.

Here are just a few of the things they’ve been up to:

✨ Becoming weather wizards by making wind socks and rain catchers
✨ Writing their own nature‑inspired poem
✨ Creating a bird bath
✨ Refurbishing the bug hotel
✨ Planting seeds to encourage new growth
✨ Making bird feeders to support local wildlife
…and so much more.

We’re incredibly proud of their dedication and creativity. Well done, Skippool - what a fantastic achievement!
