🌟 Settling into New Routines at Beaumont College Lancaster 🌟

Students at our Lancaster campus have been getting into the swing of their new routines and activities this term – and what a fantastic start it’s been!

In Personal Wellbeing sessions, our Sensory Communication (SC) and Interactive Communication (IC) students have begun exploring physical routines. They have been trying out different equipment with the support of our wonderful therapy team, building confidence and enjoying new experiences along the way.

We’re so proud of how well everyone is settling in and we can’t wait to see the progress they’ll make as the year unfolds.

Our Blackpool campus begins this new academic year with a new Lead Tutor at its helm who is set to raise ambition and aspiration and whom is committed to continuing to create a culture that celebrates the individuality, ability and the potential of our young people who attend college.

Julia Park, Assistant Principal discusses the new appointment:

“Anne Louise Haley, or Lu as we know her, is taking over the mantle as leader of our Blackpool college location following the resignation of Laura Spencer at the end of last year. Lu has worked alongside Laura since the inception of BC Blackpool and has a wealth of knowledge and experience of supporting the needs of young adults with SEND.

Lu is very excited, as we are, to be in this position and is already working hard planning and organising the academic year ahead.

Salutem divisional directorship, the college leadership team, and the wider MDT are looking forward to working alongside Lu and the Blackpool teams at Highfield and Skippool over this coming year to further cement and embed high standards and values.

With the addition of two new teachers at Highfield and one pending at Skippool the future looks bright and positive and set to continue to make a difference to the lives of the young people we educate and support.”

🌟 Student Leadership News from Beaumont College Blackpool 🌟

Meet Liam – a 2nd year student at our Blackpool campus – who has just been voted in as Student President!

When Liam put himself forward for the role, his philosophy was simple but powerful: “Well, I’ll just get things done!”

It clearly struck a chord with his fellow students, who showed their confidence by electing him to lead their Student Union this year.

Liam will be working closely with staff and students on a range of exciting projects. The Student Union are already stepping up – supporting staff in the recruitment process for a teaching vacancy at our Skippool campus.

We’re really proud of Liam and can’t wait to see the positive difference he’ll make with his new responsibilities.

🏮 Ulverston Lantern Festival 🏮

Students from our South Lakes campus have been busy preparing for this year's Ulverston Lantern Festival. Over two days, our amazing artists have been designing their illuminated creations at Coronation Hall in Ulverston.

They have constructed and decorated their lanterns ready for the grand parade on Saturday. From building willow frames through to gluing the paper canvas and painting their work on this year's theme of "Music", each student has added their personal touch to this popular community event.

Ulverston Lantern Festival takes place on the evening of Saturday 20th September and you can find out more details on their website. Everybody is welcome.

📚✨ Staff Learning and Development Week at Beaumont College ✨📚

This week, our staff teams have been preparing for the new academic year with a focus on learning and development. We were delighted to be joined by the fabulous Tigger Pritchard, who delivered insightful training on Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).

The session was a fantastic opportunity for our teams to deepen their understanding and reflect on how best to support our students. We’re excited to put this learning into practice as we welcome everyone back next week.

🎓✨ Throwback to South Lakes Graduation 2025! ✨🎓

At the end of last term, our South Lakes campus came together to celebrate an incredible group of students as they graduated from Beaumont College. It was a day full of joy, pride, and special moments shared with families, friends, and staff.

We didn’t want the new academic year to begin without sharing a glimpse of this wonderful celebration — a reminder of just how much our students achieve and the memories made along the way.

As we look back with pride, we’re also looking forward with excitement, ready to welcome our new and returning students next week.

The Jonathon Pearson Award

We were incredibly proud to present the first ever annual Jonathon Pearson Award for Self-Advocacy to graduate, Daniel.

This special award was created by Jonathon’s family in his memory, honouring his legacy as a proud Beaumont College graduate and a much-loved member of the local community. Jonathon was a passionate advocate for inclusion, independence, and the rights of disabled people.

This award recognises students who carry forward those same values, and Daniel has done just that - showing strength, confidence, and a powerful voice in shaping their own journey. A truly deserving first recipient.

Well done Daniel.

As another academic year comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on the incredible achievements of our students across all campuses. From personal development goals and work placements to creative projects, performances, and community involvement—every learner has had their own unique journey to be proud of.

This week, all of that hard work, growth, and resilience culminates in Graduation—a chance for us to come together, celebrate success, and look forward to the bright futures ahead.

A huge well done to every student. You’ve inspired us all with your determination, creativity and spirit.

Here’s to everything you’ve achieved—and everything still to come.

A huge thank you to the Vale of Lune Rugby Union Club for hosting us again this year, Turning Point Theatre Arts for their incredible performance and finally John On Queen Street for the beautiful awards and trophies.
