Appropriation of spiritual teachings without proper acknowledgement of or authority from those that live the teachings,in this case Mayan, is wrong.
Please watch this video. It’s important for us in the West to give voice to the underrepresented and share the video/help where we can.

If you are sharing cacao rituals and teachings of the meso American culture including Maya, please ask yourself first:
-Are the people who I represent in my ritual being adequately & properly compensated and acknowledged at source ie in Guatemala, Mexico etc.
-What authority do I have to share the teachings?
-What lineage am I in & who is my teacher?
We cannot merely take the teachings. We have a duty and responsibility to act in the way of the teachings, including asking our teachers about their lineage and authorisation and that we ask them for permission to share teaching appropriate to our own level of knowledge.
There are also concerns around the corporate monetisation of the ancient spiritual practices mentioned above with large organisations not being fully transparent about their qualifications to offer talks, conferences and teachings.
