š£ļøWhy does my horse not relax during a treatment like the ones you post on social media?ā
š£ļø My horse never seems to yawn and drop his head during a treatment, is it not working for him?ā
š£ļø Iām worried my horse wonāt enjoy a treatment as he is so tense with new people/equipmentā
These are questions I get regularly and itās hard as social media only shows one side.
I treat a lot of horses from all types of disciplines, personalities, breeds etc and I do treat a lot of horses who are quite guarded and donāt show that relaxation and release especially in the first initial treatments.
However, whatās interesting about the Hofmag is itās still giving an effective treatment. Just because the horse isnāt showing an immediate relaxation or release, I do often see it after weāve finished and walked away, they will then drop their head, yawn, show a real release!
Every horse, like humans, are different. Some might not be able to/want to let their guards down and let me in straight away, this might be due to their history or just their personality type. Some just donāt like being touched or think itās going to hurt- maybe from a pain memory. Some horses are just a little bit anxious and worried and have their guard up and struggle to let that down. No matter what the reason is the Hofmag works effectively and the release will happen it just might not be an immediate effect. This doesnāt mean the horse isnāt enjoying the treatment or that the treatment isnāt being effective.
