Imbolc - The Awakening 🌿
The light begins to return, we can feel the stirrings within us, the earth is starting to warm up and the days are getting longer. The wheel is turning and we’re starting to face towards the sun.
Imbolc is a fire festival celebrating the Goddess Brigid, in her fire aspect she’s bringing the fire back to the earth – melting the ice, lifting the fog and warming in the air.
She brings fertility to the land, the dawning of newness – this is the true new year. Every cell in our bodies is firing up to welcome the new light.
This is a gentle stepping into the new year, a quiet wake up call whilst staying aligned with ourselves and the energies of the season.
This is when we get the urge to spring clean and get ourselves into our new mindset for the future year ahead.
In the is breathwork, I will guide you to gently move your body, clearing out the old cobwebs of winter and bringing renewed energy to our bodies.
We’ll then go into a deeply embodied feminine breathwork session, where we stay in our grounded energy, connected to our cells and bringing fresh burst of energy to them.
We’ll be inviting the Goddess Brigid energies into our session, warming ourselves with her fire – asking for her powers of rejuvenation. Sipping Brigid’s water that she’s blessed – the myth tells us that it can be used to sip or wash your face, and we shouldn’t age for another year!
No expensive creams necessary!
Bring a glass water bottle, filled with water.
This session is for women only.
And, we can get witchy!

Can I lift weights with a prolapse?
Yes 👍 you can, but there are things you need to do first.

All women should be lifting weights… unless.
Unless you wet yourself when you cough, laugh or sneeze.
Unless you have pelvic pain or persistent lower back pain.
Unless you have a prolapse, or that heavy sensation that everything feels like it’s going to fall out.
Before anyone jumps on me yes, you can still lift weights with all of these conditions 💪
But not carelessly.
Not blindly.
And definitely not by slapping a heavy bar on your back and hoping for the best.
Strength training is powerful medicine when it’s done with intelligence. The iron teachers take no prisoners. Awareness is key!
If you’re peeing, that’s information.
If you feel pressure, heaviness, or bulging, that’s information.
If your back is screaming every time you load up, that’s information.
The answer is not “push through”, or suck it up.
The answer is posture, alignment, breath, and appropriate load.
Not all women should be lifting heavy.
And heavy is relative.
👉 If you’re peeing your pants, don’t put a heavy bar on your back and do deep squats.
👉 If you feel like everything is about to drop out, you don’t need more weight, you need more support, skill, and awareness.
This isn’t weakness.
It’s wisdom.
Strong women don’t ignore their bodies, they learn how to work with them from the inside out.
Lift weights.
But lift them well.

Empowered women empower women. 💪 That’s what one of my clients said to me.
The more I talk about pelvic organ prolapse, the more my clients are sharing their stories, and realising they are not alone.
This isn’t something to be ashamed of, it’s a common part of many women’s health journeys. More common than you may realise!
Here’s what the research says,
📌 Up to 40-50% of women may have some degree of pelvic organ prolapse in their lifetime, especially when exam findings are included, and that doesn’t mean everyone has symptoms. 
📌 Around 3-6% of women report noticeable symptoms, like a feeling of bulge or pressure, symptoms that can affect everyday life. 
📌 In the UK, about 1 in 12 women report prolapse symptoms when surveyed in their communities. This becomes 1 in 10 women over 50, and 1 in 2 over 80!!
📌 A woman’s lifetime risk of needing surgery for prolapse is roughly 11–15%, meaning most women will not require surgery and can manage symptoms in many ways. 
This is common, real, and deserves visibility.
If you’ve ever felt alone, ashamed, or confused about your pelvic floor…

What I’m going to do is keep talking about it! No need to hide - pelvic floor problems are just like ANY other bodily problem. And there are things that can be done!

Classes are bursting, everyone is motivated, we’re all moving and grooving together.
We’re working on posture and alignment all this month - the cold weather, the festivities and life in general, makes us stoop and retreat into ourselves.
We’re working on reversing it - it makes you look younger, move better, and breathe better.
