Baby Loss Awareness Week 9th-15th October

This week we remember the little lives that have joined the stars.

We think of all those we have cared for and their families, we look to the night sky to see each twinkling star, gently protected by the soft glow of the moon.

To all who support loss of young lives, we thank you for your care and to the charities that make this time more bearable for those who need extra support we thank you too.

We salute our own team whom through our work with the Somerset NHS Trust care for those babies and young people who pass away in our communities with Care, Respect and Compassion,

An intimate reflection gathering

We were honoured to host our first reflective gathering today in our Curry Rivel Funeral Home.

Katie, our Funeral Director was asked by the family of Dawn to hold a small gathering in our Funeral Home lounge, allowing the family to pay tribute to their beloved wife, mother and grandmother in their own unique way.

Of course we said yes!

We created a cosy space for them to gather, sharing their memories, informally celebrating Dawn’s wonderful life with them.

We had a photographic journey of Dawn’s life played on the screen with music that meant so much to those who gathered..

We made a space close to Dawn’s coffin for special artifacts and photos that helped the memories along.

Afrer the tributes and memories the family stayed and had some refreshments before taking their leave to carry on living their own lives full of love for Dawn.

We are so grateful to have been able to facilitate these wishes and are always happy to offer space and time to say farewell as you need. There are ways to have a low key and personal gathering without having to attend a crematorium and without thinking that a Direct unattended cremation is the only way to achieve this and it’s all created With Care, Respect and Compassion 🌙🎩

Goodbye and Good Luck Rev’d Tobie Osmond

Today saw the last service at Taunton Minster of Rev’d Tobie Osmond.

Tobie has been a wonderful pastoral support to many of our families over the years and we wish him and his family well during their next adventure.

We also wish the Congregation of Taunton Minster well during this time of change and to Rev’d Caryl and Rev’d Louise all the best in the coming months. 🌙🎩

ADHD Awareness Month

October is an awareness month that is close to our heart at Crescent Funeral Services.

Did you know that before Robert, our Business Manager joined the family business, he was a Head Teacher in a school caring for the education of children on the Autistic Spectrum!

Celebrating “Neuro Brilliance” is a passion for us, looking at individuals both in the workplace and in life and supporting their excellence and the unique perspective they can bring to our world.

Robert was once awarded an Autism Champion Award, voted for in a national ceremony by his pupils.

Last weekend he addressed and introduced the SAIF independent funeral directors Education Day speaker, Sarah Hunnable on embracing Neurodiversity in the workplace.

We feel very fortunate to have Robert and will always celebrate those who bring that extra bit of Neuro Brilliance to our world. 🌙🎩

A white orchid for the lady who loved them.

Today we had the honour of looking after a wonderful lady, a lady who selflessly cared for so many over the years.

Her family and friends gathered to remember her with gratitude for her role as a loving mother, grandmother and Foster Mother.

She gave so much love to so many children in her life and the day was filled with memories, tears but also some laughter.

When arranging the funeral, it was mentioned that she loved Orchids, the family didn’t think it would be possible to have them featured in the floral tribute upon the coffin, but we listened and made it happen.

We are grateful to the family of Lin for the trust in our services and for allowing us to share some of her story🌙🎩

At Education Day, Matt Brooke from Westerleigh Group giving the exciting news that Sedgemoor Crematorium will become a crematorium that will be able to offer personised immersive experiences for funeral services allowing families to make their funerals bespoke with interactive walls and options for making the service space what they need.
