As an aromatherapist, built into my facial treatments is an understanding of how our olfactory sense helps us to relax, rebalance & calm emotions. As a holistic massage therapist, there’s the added in-depth knowledge of how human touch reaches our subconscious & helps us feel safe, secure & connected.

The aim of my treatments is to help you find your inner balance. I always say to my clients that if you look after yourself, you can look after people around you better.

Oh & of course, there’s the added bonus of a beautiful treat for your skin. So after a treatment you look good, smell good & feel good!

The Impact of Cosmetics on Eyes 👀

July was Dry Eye Awareness month, so here’s a post with some tips.
Dry eye disease can have many contributing factors, with eyes feeling gritty, sore or overly watery.
As well as developing good habits such as limiting screen time, our use of cosmetics plays a role in keeping our eyes healthy. To help limit inflammation & damage in this delicate area:

Don’t:
❌ sleep in eye make-up
❌ share eye make-up
❌ eyeliner on the waterline (inner eyelid margin)
❌ retinol or isotretinoin near your eyes
❌ lash growth serums
❌ lash tints
❌ false lashes
❌ cosmetic ingredients around your eyes:
- Argirilene (Acetyl Hexapeptide‑8)
- Benzalkonium chloride
- Carbon black
- Chlorphenesin
- Formaldehyde
- Isopropyl cloprostenate
- Parabens
- Phenoxyethanol
- Retinols
- Terpinen-4-ol

Do:
✅ Replace eye make-up regularly

New village shop
If you’re visiting me for a treatment then you might like to call in at the Hambridge Grain Store at Manor Farm. It’s a little “shed” (pay with cash or card machine) with some basics like eggs, cheese & milk, greetings cards etc and a coffee machine or local apple juice, there’s even a little seating area if it’s warm. Pop in, there’s plenty of parking & even geese!

🌞 The sun is here to stay for the weekend and beyond and as we are all eager to get outside and enjoy what seems a rarity at this time of year - take time to think about sun protection! UV levels are classified as moderate - but be warned, this means extended exposure (beyond about 10-15 minutes) without sun protection means sun damage is occuring - whether you can feel it or not!

‼ Think about kids too, as they break up for Easter. Their skin is so delicate and highly susceptible to sun damage. Make sun protection a priority for yourself and your family and enjoy the sun SAFELY.

Cover up with clothing - including a hat and sunglasses, apply SPF 30+ sunscreen with a minimum 4 star UV protection and seek shade when possible - especially during peak UV hours around midday. 👍
