Spring is about to… well… spring! But are you still feeling low?

Research shows more people struggle with their mental health in the spring compared to any other time of year - maybe it’s watching the world “wake up” whilst still feeling down? Or maybe people feel empowered to actually share how they’re feeling and take steps to approach this…

If you’re in this position - we can help. We have counsellors with availability to see clients at our beautiful rooms in Langport, with fees from £20-£50 per session and an initial assessment fee of £25 to get the ball rolling. We also don’t put limitations on the number of sessions you can have, meaning you really have space to explore your thoughts, feelings and lives confidentially.

Our agency lead Emma took a long weekend to explore Dartmoor, and it got us thinking about self care. Lots of people think self-care is bubble baths, skincare routines and candles, and for some it absolutely is… but for Emma she resources herself through walking, spending time with friends, meditation, journalling and gardening. She also recommends saying “No” as the best form of self care… setting boundaries to protect your wellbeing, particularly as we enter into what can be a busy time of year.

If you’ve ever felt like self-care isn’t quite “hitting it”, maybe be curious about what your unique recipe for self care looks like? And please, share in the comments what you do to look after your wellbeing (“unhinged” responses are sooo welcome!)

And just like that… we’ve moved!

We loved our riverside home, but beautiful views and a stunning location doesn’t trump client or practitioner experience for us. Our new location at Old Kelways means plenty of parking for everyone, as well as more availability for session times and in the not too distant future a waiting room for clients too… plus we’ve even got a pear tree we can pick from the window!

Did you spot our Agency Lead, Emma, at this weekend? (Hint: she’s in the pink tutu!)

Here we support our local LGBTQIA+ community - in Langport and beyond. We actively challenge our prejudice and bias to be able to support clients where they are at, regardless (and in celebration of!) of their gender identity, sexuality and/or diverse background and we champion the unique individuals that enter our counselling rooms, both to have sessions (our clients) and to hold them (our practitioners!)

Mental health difficulties don’t discriminate - so neither should we.

Swipe for the all too often jarring reality of MH services right now… 😞

It’s a sad state of affairs with mental health support through GPs/IAPT services at present… one of the reasons River was founded was to address the huge gap in services for our local community.

We currently have NO waiting list! With counsellors ready and waiting to work with clients and NO limitations on the amount of sessions you can have - we work short and long term, with session fees from just £20-£50 depending on your needs as a client.

What a stunning view from one of our counselling rooms today!

We have a prime spot by the River Parrett in Langport, and whilst our location is a huge factor in why we are called “River Counselling Services” - it’s not the only one. Any guesses as to another reason why?

We have counsellors with availability to see new clients with fees of £20-£50 per session, depending on your needs, and we don’t limit session numbers, so you can feel safe to explore your difficulties without facing a timescale of “8 to 10 sessions”.

We don’t try and shoehorn your challenges into worksheets or homework to “fix” you, instead we aim to provide a safe space for you to talk, and feel fully heard, so you can perhaps explore ways of living differently.

Spring has sprung… but are you still feeling blue?

Statistics show that Spring is the most “at risk” time for people with mental health difficulties or going through challenges in life. It’s believed to be associated with nature waking up, days lengthening and flowers blooming… making the disparity more obvious if you’re feeling down.

Please don’t manage alone, we have counsellors waiting to see you, with sessions available from £20-£40 with a student counsellor and an initial assessment fee of just £25

Our second therapy room is now open, and clients have already been commenting on the softer feel. We hire rooms to professionals who sometimes need a desk to work online, but when working in smaller spaces it’s nice to have a sofa option available too! Our spaces are designed with clients in mind, soft, calm, clean spaces with a wonderful view of the river
