On January 18th, we celebrated the birthday of the beloved A.A. Milne, the author who brought us the magical world of Winnie the Pooh! In honor of the day, weโ€™ve declared it Winnie the Pooh Day. ๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒŸ

We spent the day coloring pictures of Pooh and his friends, and scattered some of their most heartwarming quotes around the home. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ“š There are truly some timeless gems in these stories! ๐Ÿ’›

This year, instead of a Secret Santa, we chose to support our local Angel Food Bank. Thanks to everyoneโ€™s generosity, our Christmas tree donation box quickly filled with dried and tinned food! ๐Ÿฅซ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’›

Hilary and Audrey delivered six big carrier bags of donations and learned how the food bank helps the community. Vic, who runs it, explained that cereals, noodles, cup-a-soups, canned foods, toiletries, and toys are always most needed. โ™ฅ๏ธ๐ŸŽ…

The box is back under the tree as staff want to keep donating, itโ€™s wonderful to give back and make a difference this festive season. ๐ŸŒŸ

Last week, we had a wonderful outing to the Age UK Somerset Carol Service at Wells Cathedral. The atmosphere was magical, with beautiful singing from the congregation and the Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

After the service, we enjoyed taking a little time to explore the cathedral before heading home. It was a truly special experience, and now weโ€™re all feeling wonderfully Christmassy! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’›

This October, we spent time learning about Diwali, the beautiful festival of lights. With the help of some of our wonderful carers from Kerala, India, we created colourful rangoli designs using traditional coloured sand. ๐ŸŽจ

Rangoli are often made on the floor and surrounded by small oil lamps, or diyas, which brighten homes, shops and public spaces during Diwali. โœจ

It was a lovely way to explore another culture, enjoy some creativity, and celebrate the spirit of light and positivity. ๐Ÿ’›

Itโ€™s been a fruity week here at Portcullis as we celebrated Apple Day! ๐Ÿโœจ

We started by picking apples from our garden trees, then added a few donated extras before washing, chopping, grating, and pressing them to make our very own fresh apple juice. ๐Ÿงƒ

Everyone who joined in had a fantastic time learning how itโ€™s done - and, of course, tasting the delicious results! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐ŸŽ
