A Life in Balance

A Life in Balance Clinical Hypnotherapist Welcome to the page for A Life in Balance hypnotherapy, www.alifeinbalance.co.uk. The list is endless. Thank you.

I offer effective techniques to enable people with physical, psychological and emotional problems to bring their lives back into balance. Hypnotherapy can be used to help a variety of symptoms and feelings, including stress, anxiety, phobias, habits, fertility, menopause, pain, relationships, physical symptoms exacerbated by stress such as IBS, healthy eating, smoking cessation, as well as unwanted feelings associated with unresolved past events. Cancer support is also one of my specialisations. It’s a great way to relax and improve your well-being naturally and easily too. People also come to improve their performance, whether its presentations at work, examinations, athletics or a musical recital. How would you use it to help you live your life to the full? You will find hints and tips on things you can do to help yourself on my website as well as information about hypnotherapy and its benefits. Sessions are comfortable and relaxing as well as confidential. I also work closely with MASScot, a charity for people with melanoma and their families and have worked at the BBC as a staff practitioner as well as with Glasgow Health centres and as a complementary therapist at Gartnavel Hospital. As a former Childline counsellor and mentor with Barnardos, I also have experience working with children and teenagers. I am qualified in Emotional Freedom Technique and EMDR as well as Reiki. You can find out more about me and about hypnotherapy on my website, where you can also make an appointment. If there is anything that you would like to see on the site that isn’t there please feel free to make suggestions.

Today, on International Youth Day, we join youth organisations across the globe to honour one of the most powerful truths we hold at Megan’s Space: young voices matter — and it’s time to talk.

Not just when it’s easy.
Not just when they say what adults want to hear.
But always.

This year’s theme calls on all of us to reflect on how we can create space for young people to feel seen, heard, and understood — not only in moments of crisis, but in everyday life.

Because being heard isn’t just about speaking.
It’s about being believed. Respected. Valued.

From the classroom to the dinner table, from GP appointments to online spaces, young people are constantly navigating pressure, uncertainty, and complex emotions. They need more than silence in return — they need genuine listening.

Ask yourself this. "How often have I been distracted by my phone, the tv or indeed my laptop or wandering mind when a young person is trying to talk to me?" If you are honest the answer will be sobering.

💬 So we’re asking today:
What does being heard mean to you?
What’s one thing you wish adults truly understood about being a young person right now?
How can I ensure I am being hear?

Drop it in the comments. We’re here to listen.
We always will be. 🧡

✋💜 4 Days to Go — Helping Hands, Healing Hearts

Every mile we walk this Sunday is powered by helping hands — the hands that reach out in support, lift the spirits of our young people, and make our work at Megan’s Space possible.

This photo from last year’s Kiltwalk reminds us what it’s all about: community, connection, and care.
Each hand represents someone who said “You’re not alone.”

By sponsoring our walkers, you're lending a hand too — one that helps a young person find hope, support, and lifelong tools for mental wellbeing. 💫

💬 "Thank you for helping me more than you'll ever know"🧡

You can make a big difference with a small donation. 💸
Here’s how you can turn our miles into their smiles:

🟣 £1 sponsors 1 mile
🟣 £3 sponsors a Wee Wanderer
🟣 £13 sponsors the Big Stroll
🟣 £23 sponsors the Mighty Stride

👣 Whether you give £1 or £23, your kindness walks with us every step of the way.

🌼 Kiltwalk 2025 — 7 Days to Go

Walking for New Life, New Beginnings 🐣

On this Easter Sunday — a day that celebrates hope, renewal, and new beginnings — we’re reflecting on what it means to offer young people the chance to start again.

At Megan’s Space, we walk beside young people navigating trauma, anxiety, and crisis — helping them take the first steps toward healing, self-belief, and a brighter future.

This Kiltwalk, every mile we walk is for the young people who feel stuck in the dark — and for the new beginnings waiting on the other side of support. 🌱

🥾 Sponsor a fresh start:

🐣🥚🌸I’m sure you either gifted or received an easter egg today which costs around £5, please consider donating the cost of an easter egg to Megan’s Space and help us to continue supporting young people in our community.

Just £3 would sponsor one of our walkers doing the Wee Wander next Sunday.

💔These Numbers Should Break Your Heart — But They Can Also Inspire Action
In Scotland today:

🖤 Su***de is the leading cause of death in people under 25.
🧸 Two thirds of children will experience violence, abuse, or trauma before the age of 8.
😔 Half of young people report feeling anxiety that affects their everyday life.

These aren’t just numbers. They’re real lives, real pain, and real young people feeling lost, overwhelmed, and alone.

That’s why we are doing the Kiltwalk.

In 11 days, our Megan’s Space Kiltwalk team is walking 2000 miles to raise vital funds for free, early-access 1:1 therapy and mental health support for young people in crisis.

💜 You can help turn those miles into their smiles.
Just £1 sponsors one mile — and every step helps a young person feel seen, heard, and safe.

- Just £3 sponsors one of our Wee Wander walkers
- £13 sponsors one of our Big Stroll walkers
- and £23 sponsors one of our Mighty Stride walkers

👣 Walk with us by sponsoring a mile, donating, or sharing this message. Together, we can bring hope where it’s needed most.

Our Story

Welcome to the page for A Life in Balance hypnotherapy. I have been practising clinical hypnotherapy since 2005 after qualifying with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis. I have completed their advanced training but I am always adding to my interests creating specialisms in cancer support, fertility, working with young people and recently I completed the Menopause Relief Programme aimed at helping women to manage and soothe their symptoms. especially hot flushes and anxiety. As well as being the Glasgow hypnotherapist for a Scottish cancer charity I also have a private pactice shared between two locations, the Consulting Rooms in Glasgow city centre and a relaxing therapy room in the seaside town of Largs, North Ayrshire. Hypnotherapy sessions offer effective techniques to enable people with physical, psychological and emotional problems to bring their lives back into balance. This natural therapy can be used to help a variety of symptoms and feelings, including anxiety, phobias, habits, fertility, pain, relationships, physical symptoms exacerbated by stress, healthy eating, smoking cessation, as well as unwanted feelings associated with unresolved past events. It’s also a great way to relax and improve your well-being naturally and easily. People also come to improve their performance, whether its presentations at work, examinations, athletics or a musical recital. The list is endless. How would you use it to help you live your life to the full? You will find hints and tips on things you can do to help yourself on my website as well as information about hypnotherapy and its benefits. Sessions are comfortable and relaxing as well as confidential. I presently work with MASScot, a charity for people affected by melanoma and other skin cancers and in recent years I have been the hypnotherapist for Cancer Support Scotland. I have also worked at the BBC as a staff practitioner as well as with a GP in Glasgow Health centres.

I am a fully qualified Fertile Body Method practitioner working with fertility and fertility problems in a holistic manner. As a former Childline counsellor and mentor with Barnardos, I also have experience working with children and teenagers and often work with young people in my practice.

I have trained in Emotional Freedom Technique and EMDR as well as Reiki. You can find out more about me and about hypnotherapy on my website, where you can also make an appointment. If there is anything that you would like to see on the site that isn’t there please feel free to make suggestions, or if you have any questions please get in touch and I will do my best to help.
