Did you know that EMBRACE Facilitators hold this amazing drop in clinic, which is open to everyone.

NADA involves putting 5 very fine needles into certain points in the ear. You are then allowed to sit in quiet for 20 - 30 minutes, at which point the needles are removed. The 5 points are all designed to help keep you calm, to aid your motivation, to keep anxiety at bay and to improve your well-being.

People also use auricular acupuncture to help manage a range of health concerns, including:

chronic pain, especially low back pain
cancer pain and chemotherapy side effects
anxiety
depression
insomnia
substance misuse disorder
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
migraine
diabetes
digestive issues like ulcerative colitis
sinus issues

Today is World Mental Health Day!
Our illness does not define who we are.
We are all mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends!
Just because you can't physically see our illness, doesn't mean we don't have one.
Just know, it is hard to talk about, but talking about it is the first step.
If we are brave enough to talk to you about it, don't brush it off.
You don't have to talk back. Just listen. Remember, some days are harder for us than others. 💚💜

FANTASTIC NEWS🏊🏄‍♂️🚣‍♀️🌊
🗣️ Ballygally Update 👍

🌊 .ni have contacted to say that yesterday’s sample meets the bathing water standards for faecal indicator bacteria.

🌊 The rise in bacteria may have been caused by the heavy rain we have had over the last few days 🌧️

🌊 We would always advise extra caution when swimming after heavy rain due to the risk of contamination.
Good hygiene is always recommended, washing hands and face and try not to ingest sea water.

DAERA will continue to monitor the bathing waters until 15th September.

NO DIPPING / SWIMMING IN BALLYGALLY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE 💜
Anyone who has already been in this morning just make sure hands and face are washed before eating and drinking and try not to swallow the water.💚

There is a growing amount of evidence to suggest that cold water dipping can help to improve mental wellbeing. We outline some of the benefits below.

🌊It boosts dopamine levels – Immersing the body in cold water boosts dopamine levels and increases the release of endorphins.

🌊Ecotherapy – Being outdoors and connecting with nature has a proven, positive impact on mental wellbeing..

🌊Mindfulness – Sometimes it can be difficult to bring ourselves into the present moment, especially when suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD and other mental health conditions. The feeling of cold water, combined with being outside in nature, helps us to experience a connection between body and mind. This can help to bring us into the present moment.

🌊Community – The cold water dipping community is notoriously friendly. By joining a local group or beginning to swim with people you already know, we can build on new and existing friendships.

🌊Reducing symptoms of anxiety – Overcoming the resistance to entering cold water can help us to build mental resilience. Over time this helps us to become more confident and boost self esteem.
