Last year has been a tough year for many.
We need certainty in our lives - we need to be certain the alarm clock will go off each morning, that your car will start, that job is there when you do get to work, that your salary will go into the bank at the end of each week/month.
We need to be certain we will eat each day, we need certainty the ones we love, our partners, our children will be there each day. We need certainty that there will be gas, electric at the switches and water at the taps and the heating will be working.
There are many other things where we need certainly - and when these things become uncertain we can become stressed, worried, fearful and anxious. Uncertainty about our jobs, our health, freedom of movement, danger of health problems, infections and death.
When things and events that we need certainty with become uncertain, it can affect the Mental and the Emotional Wellbeing of a person.
Last year has been one of uncertainty for many and has affected so many people. Be kind, be aware what other may be going through, we all have different levels of resilience regarding these things and one thing that may not affect someone, may affect another greatly.
I suppose I must also say that uncertainty is also required in life. This uncertainty give us life excitement, will they, or won't they steal a kiss, the joy of surprise at anniversaries and birthdays, a random present or flowers sent, the uncertainty of a football match - the excitement of the fans because of the uncertainty of a result in almost any sport.
Professional sportsmen and women need to have confidence, but it is uncertainty that keeps them focused, keeps them training harder to gain that winning edge.
This uncertainty is not a lack of confidence but rather a sign of respect of the ability of their opponent. The role of a dice, the cards in the hands of a poker player.
So this post is about the feelings and emotions of certainty and uncertainty and how both are required to have feelings of both security and contentment, but also the excitement of the unknown and the fulfilment of success.
Knowing this now will help you consider and decide if your emotions are serving you in a way you have peace and contentment, or are they serving you in a way that you experience stress, anxiety and fear.
If your emotions are serving you in an negative way, I would love to speak to you. How you see things can be addressed.
Remember the same event can affect us all differently. The same sun shines on us all. it is the same rain that falls on us all and the same wind that blows on us all - it is how we perceive these outside forces at any given time is how we react.
