When Should My Child Get Their Eyes Tested?

👶 Ages 3–5: First comprehensive eye exam
🎒 Before starting school (age 4–5): Essential vision check
📅 Every year thereafter – or sooner if advised by your optician

Eye exams are FREE for all children under 16 (and under 19 in full-time education) under the NHS. At Glass Opticians, we specialise in children's eye care. What is Myopia? 👀⁠
Myopia, also known as short-sightedness, is a common eye condition where distant objects appear blurry, while close-up things remain clear. Myopia tends to worsen as children grow, especially between the ages of 6 and 17. Without early detection and proper management, high levels of myopia can increase the risk of serious eye conditions later in life like retinal detachment or glaucoma.⁠
